I'm totally loyal to Crucial.com for RAM. They give a lifetime warranty on all their RAM, and it's always worked well for me. As for a video card, if you're worried about the 8000 series, I'd recommend the 7950. I hear it's good.
It is good performance wise and good if you don't need the latest. Nvida and ATI for that matter has a lot of work left on their drivers. I'd still get an 8000 series card since it might make a good future investment. 8600 is not that expensive and I think there are emulators out there like dosbox that fix most of the games.
Motherboards, well I stick with Albatron or ASUS. They've worked for me on two PC builds I've done. PSU I'm never that picky with but stay away from the budget market brands. Antec, Coolermaster, Tagan are good choices. Ram I've run with Kingston and Corsair so I've sticked with them always.
Thats my expereiences/Recomendations.
