All the other Tech Forums I've posted on are producing zilch, so I'm posting here as a last-ditch effort. No offense... just that I don't troll webcomic forums for tech help, :D

My problem, as such:

I run FireFox. I regularly use the "Find on this Page/Find Again" function. Recently, as I post in forums/etc while on FireFox, the apostrophe key has been opening this Find function, throwing the rest of my text into the box below.

So, I've tried searching, but I can't find anything like a keybind list or that sort. Any suggestions? I've tried hitting the Alt & Ctrl keys to offset any evil setting, but to no avail.

try going into C:\Documents and Settings\*your account name*\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

there should be atleast one folder in there... back up a copy of it, and start deleting various files, and that should fix it... theres one called key3.db which might work...

if all else fails, reinstall firefox.

I actually had this problem for a while, but I can't remember how I fixed it. :< I guess robbie's solution will work, though it seems a bit drastic to me. Also, the apostrophe key is the normal hotkey for the search bar, and it's not supposed to activate when focus is on the text box. =/

Well, I *am* known more for my ability to break my own things than fix them... so maybe one night while I was drunk, my button-mashing reprogrammed the apostrophe, :D

It doesn't happen all the time, which is also odd. But when it does, it's always in search bars and yack-boxes such as this one.

I'm leery about reinstalling FireFox since, well, I uninstalled Internet Sucksplorer a year ago. Heh, and not just delete some folders and links. I used a brute-force expulsion program to have every trace of IE demolished. ^_^ I feel so proud.

But yeah, I'll do that. Just got to remember to download the installation file *before* I uninstall FireFox. Otherwise I'm screwed harder than <insert celebrity> in a <insert provocative location>.

All fixed. Reinstalling Firefox worked out the kink, whatever it was. Just had to re-save all of my Bookmarks, Admin passwords, that sort of mess.
