This game was a landmark in my life. During my last months in Okinawa, we had no furniture except our TV and Harvest Moon 64. That game was the greatest thing ever. I spent so many hours playing that game, even not going outside with friends cause I just had to keep playing O_O

Harvest Moons magic died out after that "a wonderful life" and I've recently got into Magical Melody. Magical Melody is a pretty fun game, not as much as the 64 version, but I'm experiencing considerable time loss when I play this. This is the type of game you cant explain to someone and make them want it, its something you have to play because it will addict you like you wouldn't believe.

Harvest Moon 64? Bah, young'un. Harvest Moon on the SNES, now that brings back memories... must smash all the rocks! Must store up an unnecessary amount of lumber! Bugger, forgot to feed the chickens!

Not to mention the possibilities inherent in names... four letters, hmm? What sort of words do I know that have four letters? Such opportunities create endless chances for joyful sniggers for childish minds. But yeah, it's true that it's utterly impossible to lure someone with it by any other method than making them play it. "You're a farmer, right, and you've got to milk cows and plant carrots..."

I've tried to play it again, with emulators... but the magic is gone...

SNES wasn't version wasn't my thing.

The N64 one was the greatest harvest moon game in existance. It had so much that versions today don't have. The thing I loved wasn't just making this great farm, but finding those little scenes, like when someone comes to your door, or you get into a little confrontation. I remember getting locked in a whine cellar with Karen, or Elli's grandma dieing. The versions today don't have these kinds of things, and I'm sad about that :(

And Harvest Moon A Wonderful Life was terrible.

Okinawa is an island off the coast of japan. We were stationed there for military reasons.

A wonderful life was the worst out of them, it was enjoyable in short dosages. I have not yet tried Magical Melody though. Although I must agree that it is slowly loosing its magic. Then again, it may only be appealing to the younger generations now.
I was the same with the 4 letters, what names could this new animal be?

I don't think its loosing its magic due to age, but because they are just re-making the series and adding little things, but missing out on the big things that made it what it is. But MM is the second best out of the series. The new one for the Wii went back to the AWL style, and I hate that style, this game was meant to have a cartoony, almost, cell shaded look.

I saw my brother play this game alot. And I never gave it a chance for the simple reason that it is a game about farming. And I will hate myself forever if I got addicted to a farming game. :P
