I wanted to just join a RPG, but there weren't any open so I guess I'll start my own! lol. Before telling you what to write down for your character I'll give you a little bit of info on the world this takes place in...
To give you a quick idea think of Final Fantasy VII as far as enviroment. There is a large gap between old and modern technology. Such as, there could be an old village and someone could own a robot (If they could find someone to make them one.) There is also space flight, but mostly just to get from one planet to another. The main planet this takes place on is called Darhm. On Darhm there has been a war going on between rival mafe clans for the past, oh, thousand years or so. The war is being faught over element superiority. Each mage clan is represented by a different element, and each of them wears a crystal shard around thier necks as a symbol, and it gives them small boosts of power. The main races that are involved are as follows (However you can make your own race, just give some info on them and tell what planet they are from.):

The Cergie: They are not natives of Darhm, but are from a close system that is worried about the results the war will have. They are more or less like giant rodents. They live to be up to 300 years old, but believe that dieing a natural death can be dishonerable. They are a happy prosperous race that likes sleeping, good food, and good wine. They are equally strong in both streagnth and magic.

The Mutants: The mutants are the natives of Darhm and are the members of the mage clans. They usually take on personalities that corrospond with the element they represent. (Ex. ice mages are cold and calculating) The look like humans, but may have minor mutation because of their constant contact with magic. They are very strong with magic but physically weaker than other races. The available clans are- Dark, Life, Wind, Ice, Rock, Thunder, and Fire. (Although there are minor clans you may hear about.. An example would be the Water Mages. ) Usually live up to 2,000, but they never reach it because of the bloody wars.

The Humans: Came from a nearby system after their planet was visited by a mage calling herself "The Terror." (Hint hint villain) You know what humans are, lol. Phsyically strong, but weak with magic.
For more information about these races check out http://www.freewebs.com/ripage

Now that you have read that hour-long explanation your ready for a sign up!

Name: Blaze MoonShadow
Age: 19
Race: Mutant?(not really known, but thought to be mutant because it's what he most resembles)
Weapon: anything he can find to fight with.
Magic Type: Fire(Dark Fire), if any at all
Personality: Kind, but with a violent rage when angry
Description: He has straight, shoulder length, Mad Green hair, and moon yellow eyes. He looks human for the most part, with light skin, except he has white wolflike ears and tail. He is somewhat skinny, and agile, and not very strong. While he isn't strong on his own, he has potions he makes which increase strength temporarily, and his physical manipulation of fire(manipulating fire with the body and one's will, and not magic with incantations and such) make him much more formidable. He normally wears a T-shirt, with an overshirt, and somewhat loose pants, all generally black, although he sometmes will wear red. He also wears a red bandana on his head, and he is almost always barepawed/barefooted and he always wears a flame crystal shard.

Back Story: (making it up, no longer related to the other RP, it's just my character as he usually is, but without the stuff from the other RP) He remembers waking up with no memories, alone in a cave, wandering for days eating fruits and berries, until he came upon a town. He wandered the town aimlessly, with no real objectives in his life, he didn't even know why he was here, or anywhere. He found that to get things he'd need money, and to get money, he'd have to work, the best way seemed to be through becomeing a merchant. It seemed simple enough, and gave him something to do with his life, he found a book on concoctions in the library, and he read it there, because he couldn't check it out. He found that by collecting herbs and things he could grind them into a powder and mix them with water to make potions. So he collected herbs in the forest, and did just that, and began selling potions. After a while, he had gotten enough money to explore the world, and he did, as a wandering merchant. He just wandered aimlessly for a while, until he found he could produce fire with his body, just by willing it, he decided to seek out the city of the fire clan, to see if they knew anything about him. On his way, he also found he could shapeshift fully into a wolf, but after doing it, he had trouble changing back. He found another werewolf, a girl, her name was Jade. When she asked him his name, he told her he didn't have one, or he didn't know it. She helped him come up with a name for himself, being a shape shifter, and a manipulator of a blackish fire he was calling dark fire, she decided a good name would be Blaze MoonShadow. He liked and stuck with it, and she helped him learn to control his shape shifting, and in the process, he got to know her better, and fell in love. After not very long he had masted his shape shifting, and gotten pretty good with his fires, but Jade had to go away, and said she'd be back. Blaze waited and waited for her, but she never came back, so he sadly moved on with his life, getting back to seeking out the fire clan's city again.

Age: 36
Race: Cergie
Weapon: "Egnever" (Sword), and "Wurm Gun"
Magic Type: Wind
Personality: Laid back and easygoing. He takes a while to get pissed, but when he does he can often get very cynical and vengeful. Won't hesitate to help someone in need, however he can be clumsy and have bad luck. Has a soft spot for wine and beautiful women.
Description: (See Picture)
Back Story: Left the Cergie planet at the early age of 23. He has traveled around and as soon as he heard trouble was starting on Darhm he made his way there. He is now caught up in some things and has been seen hot on the trail of a Dark Mage named Islimmer. You may learn more about him if you run into him in the story...

Oops! Blaze's post made me remember something I probably should have mentioned. If you make your own race, please give a description of it as well. And on a side note* You can choose to be in multiple clans, but it could have negative effects depending on who you meet. Remember people! We have a war going on here! These people hate eachother!

Oh, and as you play I will introduce NPC characters that you can interact with. They will also help you understand how the world you are in works.
And just in case this isn't obvious... No god characters! The stronger and more powerful your character is, the harder I will have to push him/her.

One more thing, lol... You will start your adventure in the mage town of the same element you have chosen. (It will make it easier for me as a DM to get you started and follow your progress.)
And Blaze, if you would be so kind as to edit your post and put all of your information in there. It would make it easier then jumping to different threads. Thank you! ^_^

(edit, killing double post.)

Hmm... Looks interesting. Format the sign-up sheet a little and I think I may look into it. No offense, it may be the way you post, but it's kinda cluttered. Space out the world info between races and such. That is all.

Oh and STICKIED.

Name: Bran D. Bowyer

Age:50 years old

Race: Cergie

Weapon(s): 1. "Trueshot" (his home made rifle with a scope attachment)
2. "Blood Fang" (his short sword that glows blood red when unsheathed.) (fire element)
3. "Gut Punch" (a pistol that a friend gave to him when he was drafted. packs a powerful punch!)

Magic type:mainly lightning but also uses fire

personality: was a loner in earlier years before he was drafted. now he is a friendly type though he refrains from drinking very potent alcoholic beverages. he doesnt like to fight. he fights only for his brothers in arms and for what is right.

description/ history: a strongly built Cergie though a little shorter than the average height. his eyes are better than most of his race and is topped by few. before he was drafted, he made weapons as a trade. mainly guns and swords. he enchanted his rifle with the power for him to use his magic to enchant the bullets. the rifle itself will create piercing rounds from regular bullets. his sword is enchanted with a blood red glow and the blade is eternally white hot with fire as slices enemies. (only he can touch the actual blade without being burned) other than that, he hangs around a nearby bar and mulls the loss of friends and makes new ones that need him.

Wow, Dramon. You seem to have a pretty good idea of what the Cergie are all about! Nice choice in your race! And the Cergie also have an odd liking, it seems, for strong hand guns. They are also usually short in stature anyway, usually reaching a full hieght of about 5' 9".
And it may have been a coincidnece (Sp?) but some blood lines of the Cergie have been known to have poor vision. (Which is the reason why Catre wears those glasses of his.)
Hmm, and a member of the Cergie army... (Mind starts to churn)
Your character will work very nicely in this RPG. ^_^
And I also just noticed Blaze edited his character, and did a good job at that. Being Mutant (Or so he guesses) is a good way of explaining his physical alterations. And being a Fire mage also helps in defining his personality I see. It's good characters like these that make an RPG good.

Okay people! Keep doing a good job with signing up so we can start!

One more thing! lol. I figure I should give you some more information on the Magic types.
Ice: The Ice Mages can be found in small groups all over the planet, not just in cold areas as one might think. By personality they can often be cynical and won't hessitate to make a sarcastic joke or throw a snowball. They also tend to rely on logic more then other Mage types. Clans they have been known to associate with are the Darks and the Winds. They are often at odds with Fire Mages.
Dark: The Dark mages are very nomadic and tend not to stay in one place for a long time. This makes them very hard to find, and they like it like that. By personality they can be extreamly calm in the face of danger, usually because they have a trick up thier sleeve. They are also not very trustworthy because almost every decision they make is in their best interest. They don't make contact with other clans often but have been known to work on projects with members of the Ice Clans, and occasionally the Rock mages. Most other clans do not like them, and they have a particular distaste for Life and Wind Mages.
Wind: After some intense fighting in the wars the Wind mages tried to keep thier distance from other mages so they could recover. They have been known to reside in floating cities. By personality they are often carefree and easy going with a strict honor code. For some reason there are twice as many female wind mages. They have been known to get along with Fire and Life Mages. They do thier best to avoid Dark and Rock mages.
Thunder: Although they have seen some of the highest casualties, they can be found in most areas of the planet. By personality they are often very optimistic, fast-talking people. Hell, they would have to be to be able to carry on after the ammount of spilt blood they have seen. They have been known to work with Life Mages and rarely the Ice Mages. For some reason that not many people understand they have been at odds with the Fires for most of the war. They also don't like Rock mages.
Fire: Can be found on most areas of the planet and have the largest ammount of standing cities. They are often very hot tempered and strong willed. They have been known to get along with the Wind Mages, for reasons they don't like to admit. They also have some ties with Life Mages. They will kill a Thunder Mage on sight and will have nothing to do with Dark or Rock Mages.
Life: The life mages can be hard to find, and have a few cities. Although the cities are few, they are the largest out of all the Mage clans. They are very gentle and don't like fighting. They mostly use their magic defensively, but they can use it quite effectivly to cause harm if necassary. They get along with more clans than most, including the Fire, Thunder, and Wind clans. Dark Mages have it in for the Life mages.
Rock: They reside mostly in the mountains and some of the desserts. They are hardy people and a little rough around the edges. Unlike the other clans they value physical streagnth. They have worked with the Darks on occasion and sometimes the Ice mages. They do not like Fire, Thunder or Wind mages.
Other: These are clans that have, more or less, been eliminated through either battle or by their own choice. This does not make them weak, however. This include the Time, Water, Energy, and Spirit mages. Most of these clans were actually quite powerful, and some still wonder why they have almost completely dissapeared....

Okay, this was just a list to give you some ideas about the mages. Hope you enjoy it!

Actually I came up with the design before I played FFVII. I basically wanted a sword that was like a giant razor blade. That was about... Six years ago. The RPG you are about to play is based on one that my friends and I have been playing for over six years. I guess that's why I have all this information off of the top of my head. After doing something that long it becomes part of you and you start to consider your characters real. In fact, in college I want to write a novel about the story and then I want to get it produced into an anime. That's actually one of the reasons why I'm in Japan now, and all the Japanese people I have talked to love it!

FFVII kicks [censored] by the way....

Okay, so is anyone else going to want to sign up?
I'm just wondering because it's been like a week without any new sign ups. I would like at least a couple more before starting.
Unless maybe you want to start early and just have people join in?

I now have questions I feel should be asked. Are we doing a stats, with strength, defense, agility, levels and such? Is the storyline mostly the war between these mage clans, or whatever, and umm... yeah something like that, two questions is all now.

Okay, I'll join. Time for Shammeh to dig back to his roots and pull out the evil within.

Name(full):Jashobeam Shammeh Agee

Age:Unkown, though he looks to be about a hundred and two

Race:Unkown

Weapon:His staff

Occupation:Dark/Fire mage

Personality:Mysterious and self-centered, with a streak of sadism. Doesn't care about anyone accept for number one. Is driven purely by instinct and impulse, he seeks to obtain power and to amass wealth. Enjoys inflicting pain and revels in peoples suffering but generally doesn't terrorize on a large scale to avoid unwanted attetion from previous aquaintances.

Physical appearance: Dressed in black rags, covered in patches and pockets. He has runes engraved on everything he owns, and several charms dangling about his person. He wears a shroud over his face at all times, along with what appears to be horns sticking out the top of his head. He has a very hunched over disposition and a circular disk with a swirl ingraved in it slung across his bent back at all times. A heavy limp in one leg is evident, so he supports himself with his staff, which is very twisted and bent, with a sharp and heavy end, resembling his sole. His wrists and forearms look like they could snap without a moments notice, and are wrapped in bandages. What skin you can see is pasty white and resembling in no small amount the flesh of the dead.

Description: A powerful mage specializing in pyromancy, telekiniesis and necromancy. He enjoys burning his victims to a crisp, and will most often use fire magic at the expense of his other spells, even though he is a much more talented dark mage, simply because it's more fun. While not as physically frail as he leads people to believe he's not exactly a hand-to-hand specialist. Being an old combat veteran his experiance and instincts help keep him alive in a close combat situation, but he doesn't have the stamina or speed to keep up with a hardened warrior. He is not exactly the fastest person on the face of the earth, with a heavy limp and twisted physique he moves quite lethargically unless there is an immediate threat nearby. Doesn't have any kind of respect for authority, can be bought if the price is right, doesn't suffer fools at all, speaks in a wierd accent and known to drink heavily when the oppurtunity presents itself.

Backstory:An enormously talented and experianced wizard fallen off the path of rightousness. He used to be a famous fire mage, skilled at pyromancy and telkinesis, well know and loved by his peers, if a little mysterious and misunderstood, until one day a dark figure arrived at the gates of town. The dark wanderer challanged each and every mage in the town individually, starting with the weakest and working his way up, killing them one by one. By the time he had reach Jashobeam there were very few people left. The two mages battled for two days and nights strait, until the town was in ruins and the citizens all dead or reanimated by the strangers terriable magics. Recognizing the stranger's true identity as Norklash, the infamous necromancer who had devestated entire countries, Shammeh used a last desperate tactic to defeat his enemy. He fought off waves of dark magic to reach his enemy and in a completely unanicipated move, grabbed his opponents in both hands and immolated him in white flames. Such was the fierce intensity of this spell that there was nothing the most feared necromancer on the planet could do, so in desperation he
transfered his soul into the Fire mage's body, where it was to remain in the back of Jashobeams subconsious forever.

Over time Norklash has corrupted Shammeh's soul to the point where they have become as one. Filled with this evil Jasobeam has roamed the world for many hundreds of years now, the evil necromantic powers keeping his body half alive, if not fully intact, and he's begining to enjoy it.
