I used to love Halloween when I was young enough to not look like I was going to rob your house the minute you opened the door, candy in hand.

It was great, me and my friends getting a boatload of candy and hauling it back to someone's house to eat cheap crap till we puked.

Good times, right?

Now that I'm older and I consider myself too old to go out trick or treating, I realize it's a load of bologna.

First come the "OMG LOL HALOWEEN IS CUMMING" sales in shops. They move all your favourite stuff away from where it's supposed to be and always has been just so they can push their cheap, badly made Halloween crap down your throat.

Every kid under the age of 13 goes ballistic when they see this and clog up the isles with their little bodies, dragging the bored parent over to pretend to admire the latest *insert TV show here* costume. Once they're done begging their parent to get this for them they move to the end of the isle where the employees thought it would be funny to put some "Grabby hand monster" thing that goes "BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA" and throws its arm out at you.

Babies cry and kids go OMG.

Then there's the day before the big night, where all the chavs talk about who's house they're going to egg and who's car they want to key.

The first years are boasting about their new *insert TV show here* costume and how they're going to "go mental lol". They're usually hyperactive little sods for the rest of the day.

Then there's the mandatory egg throwing in school. staffroom windows and small kids get pelted with eggs and cry to the teachers, who don't do anything because they don't want to get egged themselves.

At the end of school complete chaos reigns. Eggs, silly string, airhorns, buckets of slime, crying, bleeding first years and me trying to get to the bus not looking like an omelet.

When you've gone home, got changed and settled in to a good Tv show, the doorbell rings. There's ALWAYS a trick or treater, usually with a parent, that comes far too early for this [censored].

So you're forced to either give them what they want, which you've not even got out of the shopping bag in the garage, or make up some feeble excuse and slam the door in their faces. These I can stand, but I've taken to ignoring the worst group, the ones who ring the doorbell when you're trying to eat your dinner.

It's the worst possible time to annoy someone isn't it? but they can be forgiven I suppose...

the ones I just can't get over are these chavs. Once the night gets rolling, and it's the appropriate time to trick or treat, you'll get a [censored] of chavs turning up at your door in tracksuits with some kind of mask on, demanding booze or they'll stab you. There's usually about ten of them at once, so when you slam the door you can see about 20 eggs impact.

This is just an excuse for them to go around terrorizing the community and generally breaking property without fear, because they're wearing masks.

The rest of Halloween I can stand, I could see the appeal and bear the stuff in the shops, but these idiots and their eggs ruined it.

Thanks chavs, I can't WAIT 'till you ruin my Christmas spirit

Hah! You sound like an old man. |D

But, seriously, I'm kind of burned out on it, too. Halloween just isn't what I remember it to be. People are paranoid about letting their kids run around, I guess, but it's bogus. I mean, the best I can do is get my best friend here to go TPing the weekend before. We're not mean about it, though; we leave a bag of candy, and a big spoon sign in their yard that says "I *heart* U!"

=^.^=

Point is, yeah, Halloween sucks, but the cat girl costumes are :D~.

I don't mind the holiday. It's a time for kids to have fun, plain and simple. And while the advertisements do come out earlier and earlier, I really don't see the point in going ballistic about it. You had fun doing it when you were a little one, so why make it your mission to ruin the fun for the new kids? Growing up sucks, sure, but then you grow up.

Wow, what kind of place do you live in, and what is a... Chav? I've never had problems like that (SHELTERED SUBURB IN A SMALL TOWN).

And you're never too old for trick or treating. No one who is 14 (you said 14, right?) should look like they're going to rob you. I'm seventeen and I still dress up and trick or treat.

However, I have to agree with you on the point of halloween costume stores. I literally laughed out loud when I saw a Master Chief costume. I'm going as a 1920's stereotypical gangster, or I plan to, I love the 20's. We actually got three Halloween stores this year, all really close to each other. One took the place of a circuit City (the Circuit City moved down the street), one was in the mall in the exact same place it's been for years, every year, and the other replaced a shoe store (no big loss).

I love Halloween, always have parties to go to. Guess it's whatever you're willing to make of it, have always enjoyed the holiday since I was young enough to trick or treat to today.

I like Halloween. I might be a bit to old to trick or treat, but you never outgrow scaring the [censored] out of little kids when they want candy. *Sigh* Good times. And, if I don't do that, it's an excuse to hang out with friends while dressed up all goofy like. :3

And, the thing that bothers me is Christmas crap showing up before Halloween. Yes, it happens. And it bothers me. I'm not in the Christmas mood until a few weeks after Thanksgiving. BAH!

Halloween is slightly different for me. Last year, I lived on the 7th floor of an apartment building on my campus, so I wasn't expecting many (well, any) trick-or-treaters. Luckily, I did stock up on cheap candy -- just in case. Anyway, around 2am, I get a knock at my door. I open it to find some guy in face paint asking for boozeahol. I gave him a handful of Twix and sent him on his way. Apparently, no one on my floor saw fit to bestow upon him his treasured liquid, so he enacted his drunken retaliation by spraying silly string on our doors and drawing male genitalia all over the walls. That was a fun night.

I try to stay away from any large stores near Halloween as to avoid all the screaming kids. I remember how fun it used to be, so I have no problem with all the kids nowadays doing the same thing. If they want to go bonkers one night of the year, then let them. I'll just keep my distance from the sugar-coated bombs that are post-Halloween children.

Yeah. I also love Halloween. But I've always loved to dress up in extravagant costumes. Sure, I don't trick or treat anymore, but I have parties to go to instead. I've never had any problems with drunken college students, personally. Maybe we're all just better behaved out here. :P

I loves me Halloween. It's not yet creepy for me to tricker treat |D

Me and a bunch of friends mostly just run around getting as much candy as possible and laughing our [censored] off. We seem lucky in that we have very little drunken old people, mostly it's just downtown that's like that, so it's all cool.

Just an excuse for me and my friends to run around and demand free things from total strangers =3

I still have never just dressed up in a really ambiguous outfit, so that I could easily change my appearance, and hit the same houses multiple times. Has anyone ever done that? It sounds fun. :D
