Also, yay! As I have said before, and will continue to say, ODST are badass. So incredibly badass. Hopefully it is a tactical shooter like R6:3, where one or two hits kills you. Realism FTW.

And Sable, gotta disagree there. Halo is not a tactical shooter and it isn't meant to be, that's why it's fun. I doubt there going to change it, or the rest of the gameplay other than what arms you see floating with your gun.

Besides, if you wanna play R6, there's like 30 of them after all =P

It's said i am a huge fan of that halo campaign and i learned of the halo 3 expansion from you guys.

If they keep the same gameplay, it just wouldn't make sense. ODST, however awesome they are, are not quarter-ton cyborgs that can destroy everything in their path almost single-handedly. Otherwise the MC wouldn't even be important, because there's already a crapload of ODST who are apparently his equal.

Also, if they aren't willing to change the gameplay, why are they making Halo Wars, an RTS? A run-and-gun shooter involving what are essentially expendable infantry just doesn't make sense. They have less armour, no shields, and as a result, things that a Spartan would shrug off would be lethal to an ODST. If it retains the same gameplay, the game will tank, because you'll try to charge at them and shoot and they'll rip you to pieces before you take more than two steps in their direction. That's not fun. Even Halo: CE, Halo 2 and Halo 3 are stretching believability; if they make a game less realistic, it'll be laughable, at best.

Are you suggesting a tactical shooter with an emphasis on stealth and cover, Sable? If the playerbase has the patience for it, that's something that I think there's an empty niche for right now.

It should emphasize cover at the very least, and stealth would not only be a great addition, but would also make sense considering the main character is ODST Recon. The problem with this is that the majority of gamers are twitchy spases who lack any sort of patience whatsoever. And the Halo fanbase is more inclined to this, given the nature of previous installments. Because of this, I doubt the game will be tactical in the least, and will thus be mediocre at best, utter failure at the worst.

I have yet to find an FPS that is better than R6:3, except that the graphics have been improved on, and there aren't many people who play it anymore. Of course, I played the PC/Mac version, so it's obviously going to be an improvement on almost any console FPS.

It's an expansion. If they wanted to make a tactical shooter, they would make a new game. For now, it wouldn't make sense with the current games, where as Halo Wars is a new game. It's like if they announced a new CoD4 expansion in which you played as a space viking shooting terrorists with your laser cock.

Well if it's an expansion, it's sure to suck. Not even the badassery of the ODST can salvage Halo 3's poor gameplay mechanics.

If you don't like the game, don't buy the expansion. Don't hope for it to be different than it is when it's the same series on the same console.

And of course, the "Bad gameplay mechanics" are your opinion. I personally hugely enjoy the game.

well you need to remember it is a Stand-Alone expansion. So they may make it some what different, they can easily swap, say the melee, with a cover command to accord for the fact a marine's melee is not killing a brute. They could also just make it like the current halo 3 but make it impossible if you don't duck and cover behind walls alot, which i think they may do.

I don't know, doesn't seem like a good plan. The cover system in Halo 3 was awful at best. Would seem like a bad choice for the core gameplay of Halo 3. Plus, I doubt they'd make a new engine for it being that it is only an expansion.

Plus, lookit the dude. Seems an awful lot like power armor, don't it? Almost as though you'll be as strong as the Chief.

I'm pretty sure ODST do use powered armour, but nowhere near the durability of MJOLNIR Battle Armour, and even if it were, the fact remains that SPARTAN-II's like the Chief are altered physically to be nigh indestructable. They are cyborgs. ODST are regular humans in powered armour. Big difference. It's just completely unbelievable for an ODST to be even close to on par with a SPARTAN-II.

I hate when people say believable in reference to a fictional media. The Chief, Covent, and Flood are all unbelievable from a realistic stand point.

What I mean is, I highly doubt the game will be given a new engine, otherwise, you know, it would be a whole new game rather than a stand alone expansion. It would be my guess that nothing will be drastically altered, after all, their goal is to make a game to sell to the same people there other games sold to, otherwise, again, it would, like Halo Wars, be a new game rather than an expansion. Ergo, the gameplay will not change drastically. Obviously, the multiplayer is not going to change, as it has new maps, which implies that they will go along with the old maps and therefore the old game.

'Believable' within context. The Halo universe is essentially hard fiction; it has permanent settings and its own rules. Within context, an ODST on par with a SPARTAN-II in unbelievable, because it contradicts already-established lore within the Halo universe.

And even if there are new maps, it doesn't necessarily mean the gameplay will be the same. In fact, if the gameplay isn't different in Recon, then Recon won't actually have real multiplayer, because it'll just be a single-player game with Halo 3 maps stapled on. Can't have ODST vs SPARTAN multiplayer, after all.

Also, considering that Bungie hired the creative director of Red Storm (makers of Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six) for the project, the likelihood of a squad-based shooter is pretty good.
