"I'm not certain... what crises is going to happen? How do any of us know that it's going to occur for certain? and above all... what if the crises is acted in part or in whole by our actions?" Clazon asked, feeling slightly in over his head.

"I'm just an ex-guardsman... I'm not meant for this saving-the-world business."

Siyamad

I turned to Yan, giving him a quick once over. I hadn't seriously evaluated anyone since well, I couldn't remember. The careful way he cleaned and cared for his weapon was somewhat soothing. A simple, yet complex with such a weapon, was being undertaken with a maximum of skill. I recalled seeing him fight earlier and grinned. I resolved to challenge him to a fight as soon as I could, nothing lethal, just a friendly challenge. Just because the fight with Wrath was so amazing, didn't mean I could relax. There would always be more fighting.

Ama thought long and hard how to explain to him what was wrong, and was going to get worse. The gods are an integral part of our world's fabric. The fact that part of their essence can reside in us, and be used by us, is proof of that. Now that the world has at best a tenuous connection with them, things have gotten harder to survive. Our world is slowly dying: we've been able to measure the shrinking of our cloud forests within my lifetime. The area of lifeless desert keeps growing. Youngling desert nomads talk of springs they played in disappearing never to return: all this points to our planets demise, and soon.

Our scholars have astronomic records from before the sundering, and they have calculate an event that could give our planet it's rebirth: the Old Moon's Twinning. If we don't perform the ceremony then, the dying will escalate tenfold, and kill us all within a matter of a decade.

Gary listened to Ama carefully, while keeping his eye on the other rover, "It's important, this Twinning cerimony?" he asked, hoping he didn't sound too ignorant.

Yep, it's the make it or break it point. Either we get there, preform this ceremony, and everything's back to normal, or the planet's death speeds up.

"Great, I'm participating in what could be the destruction of all the land and all we have to act on are our instincts?" Clazon sighed.

Ama looked at Clazon quizzically. "What makes you think instincts are all you have to go on? You have friends, and we have thousands of years of information gathered, which includes information straight from Lumnos himself. What exactly, is instinctual?"

Telki was amazed at how much faster the trip home was, compared to the rover. In one morning, they had covered the same distance it had taken them one or two days to cover on foot or with mounts. Going home was going to be much, much faster. A grin of anticipation spread across her face. She was going home.

"You just.... nevermind." He sighed, as it was really confusing for him.

"But nonetheless, I just... don't feel right about this. I mean, I can compete with our foes when it comes to strength, if they're all as strong as that watcher I clashed blades with a while back, but... Can I even stand a chance against anything else? Heck, could I even do the same a second time?"

((and my last post came from the one you made right before it, saying that it's make or break time...))

Manatu looked to the side, taking in the enviroment. He wasn't sure what to expect once they got to Telki and Ama's home city. He had a bad feeling growing in the pit of his being and he just couldn't get it to go away. He glanced over in the other direction and noticed Sabbia still sleeping and her brother finishing up cleaning his sword. He had the feeling Yan didn't like him that much, he still didn't understand why. What did he do to get such hostility from him?

His eyes kept wondering until they fell on Seth, his sleeping form seemed peaceful. He was a nice person...as far as he'd seen. He couldn't help but to remember something an old friend told him, "Actions will reveal one's true intentions."

Apparently, we've crossed wires somewhere. A make or break point means a turning point: a critical decision point. Does that make what I was attempting to say a little clearer?

Self doubt was something Ama understood well. She snuggled into his arm. "You, Clazon, are as strong as anyone I ever met: physically, mentally, and morally. You can handle this or anything else that comes our way, and I'll always be there to help. I promise."

((it sounded like a big gamble to me, which is what I based his reaction off of.))

"Thanks, Ama, I really appreciate the support." He said, smiling at her.

"Anytime, sug, anytime. Ama snuggled on his arm, and watched the windshield over Gary's shoulder as the scenery careened away. Holy cow, they'd already come this far? "We should start seeing greenery soon. We're gonna get there with lots of time to spare, it seems."

"Beauty. This desert is pretty unremarkable if you ask me." he replied stoicly. Stifling a yawn with a hand, he slapped it back on the yoke as it started to drift sideways, "Sorry...boredom makes me tired."

I shifted in my seat. The greenery here was somewhat welcome, especially being a desert rat, as it implied water and food. Also the sight of plant was uncommon in the desert so something other than the dunes and desert sand was nice to look at.

Noticing where they were made Telki breathe a little easier. Already the desert sands were giving way to rocks and vegetation. They were into the foothills already. This meant the terrain wouldn't be as easy on the vehicles, but they were so much closer to their goal already, she din't mind that the rest of the trip was bound to take longer. Off to her right, she spotted a favorite camping site. She radioed Gary. "It's getting late, and with the ground getting rougher, I do not want to attempt night driving. I've spotted a campsite off to our right. We'll head there."
