Oh yay... -_-

I'm having a Crohn's flare up. *sigh* My gut's in constant discomfort, and occasionally, outright PAIN. Luckily, it isn't too bad yet, and I've already contacted my doctor to check on it, seeing as my Crohn's hasn't been in remission very long, and it's the first flare up. I just want to be careful, 'cause my dad always tried to take care of it himself and... He's had surgery I think 3 times now. And multiple visit to the ER because he let a blockage build up. Yeah... ER = bad. So, now I have to go in for a CT scan and blood work here in the next few days, and go back on Prednizone, a steroid that suppresses my immunes system so that my gut gets a break from the constant attacks.

*finger's crosses*

Chron's isn't that bad if you take your meds. My best buddy in the world has Chron's, and it never flares up unless he stops taking his pills. He's an idiot though, so he'll go for months with no flare up, think it's under control and stop taking his meds, then be back in the hospital a month later.

Also, you can be prescribed medicinal marijuana for Chron's...

Yeah, that's just it. I always take my meds. I've gotten used to taking meds, since I've been on 'em since I was 7 (different stuff for a different issue). My day isn't complete without 'em. I'm on the max dosage and I'm still getting a flare up. What's that tell ya?

Besides that, there are various levels. Crohn's can effect anything from the mouth to the anus, and can cause various problems with your eyes, skin, and hormones. I don't have the worst case, but I'm certainly not the best.

Sorry to hear that Punkin.

Hrmmm. Reminds me of something I read about in one of my environmental classes:

Group of patients were having abdominal difficulties of some kind. I think it might have been Chron's (they weren't specific), but the Doctor prescribed --you'll love this---parasitic worms. The patients ingested the worms, and were symptom free for six months (the lifecycle of the worms). Dr. gave them more worms, and they were symptom free again.

By introducing the worms, the immune system had something other than the body to attack.

It was in an article we had to read and then discuss about our environment now being "too clean".

I hope things clear up for you soon, Kilroy. That sounds pretty terrible, even if it's not as bad as it might be.

That's horrifying. Kilroy, if your doctor tries to put worms in your gut, hand him a broom and tell him to [censored] himself with it. That's just as bad as the maggot treatment for gangrenous flesh. It may work, but most people would rather live with the symptoms than the cure.

If they try to stick worms in me, I'll have something to shove in their [censored] too. I still owe them for the camera. Besides, the worms could have done nothing, seeing as people can go their whole lives without Crohn's flaring up. I'm just unlucky, seeing as this thing's been passed down my family for four recorded generations now. :|

I just hope it doesn't get as bad as last time. Laying in the fetal position for an hour because it hurt too much to do anything is not fun.

Blargh, that sounds pretty bad. Sorry to hear that you've had such bad pain. :( I hope they manage to get you some medication that helps keep the symptoms at bay so you can live much more comfortably.

Good luck!

Yeah my best friend also has Chrones. He was actually given the wrong meds for 2 years thanks to the Pharmacy screwing up. BUT, now that he has the right ones, only flares up every month even with the Meds :(

Oh jeez. That sucks big time. I hope they can help you get better or something. Genes are hard to work with. If they offer you worm, you should so take them, then gross everybody out by telling them you have worms (and ask them if they want to see). Hilarity is sure to ensue.

Anybody tries to stick worms in any of my darlins, they'll have to get past me and my arsenal.

I was just pointing out it could be worse. :P

I hope they have a treatment that works wonders WITHOUT the grossout factor. Prayers and wishes winging your way sweetie.
