As all of you know, Hurricane Katrina bashed its way through south east united states. Already 30 dead have been estimated, in only on hotel. Thankfull me and my family are fine, but many are no. People lost thier lives today, good people with no reason except that they were in the wrong place, a god-damned bad reason if u ask me. Please bow your head, hold a moment of silence, or snap a salute in honor of those dead or dying in the aftermath of this natural disaster. For those of you who lost friends or family in this, from the bottom of my heart, i am truly sorry.

I don't think so. I DO know that a lot of people were at a stadium as a makeshift shelter.

I have no family or friends down there, but watching the news and listening to NPR and seeing the paper headlines, I wish everyone down there good luck. May you all find safety.

I hope everyone that has family/friends down there peace of mind. I don't know if it helps but I have been thinking of the area all day.

Apperintly the walls around New Orleans has broken 2 or more spots and it is entirly flooded. It's just a disaster, but then most people could probably tell that.

I had heard that, too. How is it that someone/people would do that when the smartest thing is to go away? And that's just adding insult to injury.

That's true in most cases LUEshi, but many people are also simply taking things that they don't need (i.e. 10 pairs of shoes.) Either way, its wrong, but the local government as well as many aid agencies are doing everything in their power to help the people in need. Casualties from this type of disaster are to be expected, just because its the United States, doesn't mean massive disasters in which many people lose their lives, won't happen. The important thing is that everyone is pitching in to help, but for places like New Orleans, things won't return to normal for a very long time to come.

True, also in Europe the natural disasters are increasing. Still you can't compare it to the extent of demolution that has been caused by this hurricane. Good luck down there people!
