the mods are finally taking the initiative to try and bring order back to the newbie boards once more. congradulations for them, and i dont mean to sound rude by saying this...but it's about time.

===edit===

one answer didn't get through, ah well. for those of you that wanted to know, the final choice was "i cant decide...THEY ALL ROXORZ!!!"

I think the moderators have been doing a good job when they are able to get onto the forums. I'm not inclined to pick a favorite since the last time we had a "Who's Your Favorite Mod?" thread, it was deleted/locked because it lends itself to the perception of favoritism.

Also, Maloo doesn't moderate the forums these days. He's gone solidly to the IRC chatrooms.

Only two of those moderators can actually moderate the newbie board, and Maloo-MF9 no longer moderates the forum.

I will not delete this thread, but removing the poll is fine.

thanks a lot Yash, you rock .

ok back to the topic at hand, the mods HAVE been doing a great job taking care of the forum, and i understand now why the newbie board have gotten out of hand, there's only one mod monitoring the board now, and he wasn't on duty very often until the new members have surfaced.

you're doing great with keeping the newbie board from getting out of hand Sage, keep it up. hopefully the non-spamming members will be able to welcome the newcomers before the threads get locked.

It's just too bad that the only way to end the spamming seems to be locking the thread. :s Newbie Board looks very uninviting with so many threads shut down.

Locking the thread does nothing except temporarily stop the problem.
If we want some permanent change, someone needs to talk to the users directly. Maybe introduce some sort of punishment system...

Not that I'm saying I want users booted. Oh, no. <______<

you DO have a point there, the users need to understand that spamming will only result in a locked thread. which in turn may result in less members joining...or not wanting to introduce themselves.

Or, y'know, the newbs getting freaked out and scared off. >_>
Hell, half of that is the welcoming itself. Nearly drove me away, I remember that much.

I skipped intros and went straight to the roleplaying section. Do the same on sites where I don't know all that many people.

I feel incredibly lucky that I joined back when the Newbie Forum was dead...a half-dozen nice welcomes to warm you up, then right to posting in the main forum - like it should be!

I really think there should be some more organization to it all, rather than just a "Say Hi And Enjoy The Spam."

I wouldn't seeing some kind of format be put up for new members. Have a stickied post explaining how one should organize their first post, with something like

Nickname:
Gender:
Age:
Hobbies:

Etc etc etc. So we at least have a bit more than "lol im new" to go off of.

Don't forget "Hai!"

*sigh* I can't believe it myself but my reign of terror in the newbie boards is over. It gets real boring since there's a looong wait time for response. I also don't have lots of time to spend what with school.

I'm usually quite Phlegmatic.
(Not the condition the personality)

eh, i used to be like that, i got over it when i started making more friends that can relate to me more. it doesn't help when your old friends start to drift away from you because of your differences y'know.

ok enough spamming about my past, anyone else have something to say about the mods trying to stop the spamming in the boards?
