Speaking of tragic days in U.S. history, why don't we have remembrance stuff for days like Dec. 7th? Not very many people tend to remember things like that anymore.

Very tragic indeed, the world has endured a lot because of that day, and it will unfortunately continue for the foreseeable future. :(

May their souls find peace, their relatives solace, and the rest of us wisdom.

I couldn't have said it better. Despite those who died, I'm thankful for those who risked, and lost, their lives to protect the rest of us; as well as those who are still risking their lives for our freedom.

Pearl Harbor Day? Yeah...there aren't parades on that day like there used to be...but it's still on the calendar, and flags are still flown at half-mast...
It seems to be a natural progression - as the generation that witnessed such events dies off, the observations also drop off, to be replaced by the newer, inevitable remembrances. If there was a big hullabaloo over each and every historic tragedy, the calendar would quickly fill up. It's not that they are any less important, it's just that people can only think of so much tragedy at one time...

I honestly forgot it was 9/11 until I happened upon this thread...

Hope the people touched by this tragedy have been able to find some respite from their sadness, and had enough times for their wounds to begin healing.

Those that witness the tragedy feel it more deeply, than the generations that come after. People remember Pearl Harbor day, but the generation that felt it viscerally is passing.

We, members of this forum, were there for 9/11, and we felt it to our toes. So yes, it will affect us more deeply than Pearl Harbor, but Pearl Harbor will not be forgotten, as I hope 9/11 will not be forgotten.

Sad anniversary, indeed. Not much else I can say other than I stopped being a child that day, along with millions of others.

Remember the day very well. We held some events on the base I work on, sadly I was unable to attend any of the services since I was busy elsewhere today, but we all took a moment of silence. It was a sad event, but it's relieving to see so many come together.

i remember that day, very tragic. i sometimes feel glad that i didn't know anyone that lived there back then, but feel sad that people that had a friend/s die that day.

......what sucks and kicks a** at the same time is that my mom, and one of my friends, have birthdays that day.

this morning I didnt even realize it was 9/11
weird thing is, I paid $9 on pump 11, when I got gas.... without even realizing it.

All gave some, some gave all
Never forget

these are the actions, made by cowardly men, that make countries either weep in fear, or rise as one.

I was watching the cardinals game when jack buck gave a speech. it was touching.

Ignorance caused a tragedy that could have been avoided. There is no forgiveness.
