Sounds good, just re-evaluate, make sure it won't get out, unless you want it to, and make sure that also you may want to test it with your dwarves quarantined. (You may need to add a drainage tunnel.)
So I should send one of my new miners to do it? Cause the two I started with are like ultra legendary now, and are perfect in all stats.
I got one new one that just got appointed as a miner.

also, how do I make a drainage tunnel?

Send in the newbie, Chaos! SEND IN THE NEWBIE!

Drainage tunnel = tunnel to the outside that has a grate to the beginning of it.

Alright, but how does water go down staircases?
cause I already made the wall and the only way in is by staircase.

ALso I'm gonna go play Castle Crashers pretty soon so my next response will be late.

Well, water never goes up, a staircase, but it WILL go down.
Watch for that. it will not flow past a door either..

I've set up a basic mountain hall with a trapper out cold. He's bleeding and a dwarf was dispatched to rescue him, :/ I got buckets on queue.

I've also got problems with metal-getting, any ideas for refining coal and metals? I haven't gotten that yet.

(My dwarves bash things to death with crossbows)

Just make Charcoal with a wood burner
Seems like they don't care whether it's refiend or just made.

Also for metal, I can't find anything but Silver
Just about every weapon I have is made of silver, including furniture in the nobles' rooms and whatnot.

I really wanna get some Copper at least.

I have a bowyer that makes ONLY masterpeice wooden crossbows.
I get a good deal of money from the crossbow industry

I also sell spare silver swords and hammers I make and whatnot
Good money.

It sucks that weapons come from a non-renewable resource...

My Carpenter made a nice Bismuth Claymore once, engraved and crud.

Well you can make wood weapons but they are pretty terrible.
Plus the hippy elves use them.

I can now make a well
Just need it to turn into water first.

Edit:Oh oh what the [censored]
One of my guys got possessed and he used it up to make a...

He made a friggin artifact mitten
IT HAS SPIKES OF PIGTAIL

*snerk* a mitten?

Anyway, I screwed up, I had a pristine, clean, organized fortress.

I was digging out a new room next to my throne room and it was going to be the fail-safe for invasions.

I linked up a bridge and dug a channel, let the water flow, and BAMF! the water flooded the entire, freaking, fortress.

I wanted to make a safe-house but ended up making a death trap.

Killed half the dwarves and two got shoved out and a few are still holed up in their rooms crying or starving to death.

I ALMOST flood my entire fortress, but I have a legendary mason and he built a wall to block a flood from an accidental mine in time.
:D

Never mine damp walls.

ಥ_ಥ

Water hates me. I ran into the map's Aquifer, and ended up flooding my fail-safe, throne room, etc. The only place unaffected is the living quarters, which is a big dry lobby, along with the food stockpiles. My miner died and his pick is out in the flooded halls. I'm stuck until I can trade food for a pick.

How many people do you have and how many buildings got destroyed?
If you got a ton of people and a few area masons or whatever you can rebuild everything.
LET'S SEND EACH TOHER SCREEN SHOTS!
