Well, it looks like you've got a lot of good options there. I can't help you choose one, though; that depends entirely upon what you want to do. :)

In terms of deciding what you want to do/be someone said something to me once and I like it, though I personally have a hard time remembering it when it comes to my future

"I've done something different every decade of my life, so don't stress out over not being able to decide what you want to do. If you pick something and decide you don't like it, change it! nothing in the world says you can't."

Seems like a "Well duh" situation but a lot of college students these days seem so intensely focused on "getting it right the first time". (I include myself :( ) But really nothing says you'll like what you pick 15 years later, so don't stress to much over it.

(though it's always good to have at least a direction, destinations can be figured out later  )

I don't have a job, or a major, yet. I'm still kind of trying to figure out what the heck I want to do.

There are times I'd be happy to give it to you. Like when everything's on fire and has to be done now (pretty much all time time). And when I get stuck doing tech support during that period of time where I'm trying to push out a full redesign of a client site in three days. Ugh...

But you haven't found anything you really enjoy doing? I wish you luck. Not finding what you love to do is how you end up in a career management position at McDonald's. :( (No offense to McDonald's managers of course, I just wouldn't want your job for anything.)

Well, I figured that, like all IT jobs, it wouldn't be without its stressful headaches. But it'd be much nicer than flipping burgers, which is where I'm headed if I don't make up my mind soon. *shrugs* Haven't found much, no. Nothing I can imagine myself doing for the next 40 years, 5 days a week, at least. I may end up going into IT or CS because it's what I know and I'm passionate about technology -- my dream job would be reviewing gadgets or writing for a tech blog like Engadget. But, alas, I don't know how one would do such things.

I think those are the sorts of things you fall into. You know, you kinda do it a little on your own, get involved on a tech blog as just an off-the-street commenter and contributor, and they might ask you to join in, if you consistently provide intelligent, useful comments. *shrug*

Don't worry about doing something for "40 years, 5 days a week." Find something you wouldn't mind doing for five years, five days a week. People change careers (not jobs, careers) something on the order of six times in their lifetimes, IIRC. Find something you enjoy doing, and even if it's not what you want to do forever, it might lead you to the next big thing. As much as I (usually) enjoy my job, I don't plan on doing it forever, either. ;)

I'm a painter, before school started I worked at a small family owned company out of Pittsburgh PA. I do murals on the sides of buildings, overpasses, and in houses, mostly nurseries and playrooms. I occationally do some moonlighting and do murals for friends and families. Currently drawing a sketch for my brother's new house for his son's room.

Muralist, eh? Wow, very nice occupation to have. Back when I was in high school we commissioned a muralist to coordinate a painting in the cafeteria hallway. Worked out very well - none of the students tried to vandalize anything, and it's still there last I remember. ^_^ We've got a couple in town, too, one of which I know was done by some graffiti artist in the area.

I'm in the CIA. I nabbed 50 terrorists the other day. Turns out they were my neighbors.

You think you'd know a guy.

Its fun and I get to do a lot because I'm a good mimic, I can do anything in any style. But the problem is that if I spend to much time mimicing a style I start to lose some my own style so I try to put a spin on things and they usually always turn out well. I haven't had any complaints so far.

Still working at the video store... <<

On the plus side, I managed to get our Hollywood Video to order a Wrath of the Lich King pre-order banner in spite of us not selling PC games, XD

Hey, topic got revived, now I don't have to feel bad about posting in it ^^

I'm a college kid. My favorite job I've ever had was when I was a "Theatre Technician" for my high school...read: set up the lights, microphones, and stage for whoever rented our space (which could seat 779), then run whatever they needed.

Currently, I work in my school cafeteria, which is bigger than it sounds. Local families come here to eat, it's like a food court. I finally got the my favorite station for all my shifts, which is the deli. Sometimes I don't even want to think about how many sandwiches I've made, but I like the work, it's fun and active and you get to see people's creativity come out in the form of a sandwich. And we have ingredients like hummus and avocado and cranberry sauce and a vegan field roast and specialty sauces and pestos and breads, and of course, all the traditionals.

Dream career...writer. Like everyone and their cousin. But I'd love to break back into theatre, be a sound designer/engineer. I've got a good ear for microphones.

Or more realistically...I might go into clinical therapy.

I work at a FedEx Ground hub. Two shifts, two different jobs. On shift one, starting at 0-dark-30, I load the trucks that go out into town and deliver to businesses and residences. On shift two, I load the trailers that go out to our satellite hubs overnight, so that they can deliver the next morning.

It ranges from just tiring to physically brutal, depending entirely on the whims of out customers and the weather. For an example. lately our average day has been about 18.5. That is, 18 and a half trailers, about 20000 packages overall. But yesterday was 21, and today was 16.5. Almost totally unpredictable, too.

Pet peeve at work? People, there are right and wrong ways to package things. Saw blades and trailer hitches really don't belong in boxes. Fishing weights should be separated into manageable weights. It takes more than one piece of tape to properly hold a case of textbooks shut. And for the love of all that's holy, put some form of packing material around your bottles of moonshine. That stuff reeks if the bottle breaks in transit.

Wow, fancy that, I spent a few years as head light sound tech for my school theater. Even though my official title was lighting systems operator, I often ended up fixing crap the sound guys broke or teaching them how to use their equipment.

As for a job at the moment I am working for peanuts at an arcade about 15 miles from my house. This Friday I am planning on going to reapply at Kmart here. I worked for a Kmart for about 2 years back before I moved so I would hope they would be more willing to hire me being they would not have to train me.
