Not sure where else to put this, but I think that maybe someone should know? Maybe. Not too big of a deal.

I just got a PM, but up top, it still said "You have no new messages." even after I refreshed the page, went to different pages, etc. I know I had one though because I got an email. Then I thought maybe the email thinger was glitching, so I checked, and sure enough, I had a PM. So, maybe someone should check into that?

Did you read the PM previously?
Cause I find the email can arrive after you have received and read the PM at times.

I don't know if this is the right thread, but I'm not familiar with these forums, so....

Is there any way to prevent getting e-mails about the PM's? Not that I get many, but I couldn't find anything like that in the profile settings--just the popup option....

I don't think so... At least I'm not aware of one. It's an option in phpBB3, but it doesn't seem to be one in phpBB2.

Well, like I said, I don't get many, and I just delete the e-mails I do get for PMs....

I don't get e-mails for each PM any more. Not sure how I fixed it, or who I badgered into fixing it.

What the heck? 8[ I thought it was always an option to not receive emails.... Hm.

And no, I didn't read the PM. I didn't know I had it until I got the email*. I was currently browsing the forum, so I was like "Huh. How come it doesn't say I got one, then?" So I kept browsing, waiting for it to say I had a new message. Nothing. so I checked.

*I have the Trillian option enabled that creates a little box in my lower right hand corner of the screen when I get an email, so I know instantly when I receive something. That's how I knew right away while I was browsing Two Kinds. :]

There normally is an option to not be notified by e-mail- but when Tom was working on the anti bot stuff- it went poof.

But normally the forum will update saying you have a message- in popup form but many pop up blockers stop it.

Also we have had some delay time as much as 24 hours or more on the e-mail server sometimes- so if you had a PM at all within 24 hours- its possible you just now (or just whenever you got it) got the e-mail- but got the PM as far back as 2-3 days.

Well, I know the email was sent to me instantly, because the person who sent it to me was talking to me in the Tech Board thread I made, so.. That's not an issue.

Did Tom purposefully take the option out, or was it automagically gone?

Well, I don't know if it's true, but when I'm connected to a forum and I recieve a PM, I don't recieve an e-mail. But when I'm not connected I recieve one. Maybe it's in the code, if user status is != connected then send an email.

Or maybe I just imagined that ¬.¬ Hopefully not... Don't want to end up at a psychologist

Last time I ever got e-mail alerts, the PMs were doing that 24-hour delay lameness. I don't remember how I got it fixed, but I do remember raising hell when my inbox was getting flooded.
