So I opted for a program called Green to Gold in the Army. Basically, they transfer me to reserve duty and send me to college on a degree program of their choosing. After I obtain said degree, I return to active duty as an officer. They are presenting me with 5 career choices based on previous experience and my degree (Global Security and Intelligence). Those choices are -

#1 - CID Agent. Basically it's an MP (Military Police for the layman) that handles the big jobs. Jobs where other nations are involved. Say a NATO chair member is corrupted, they send in a CID Agent to investigate without the knowledge of said chairman.

#2 - Ranger. This is already my job...I'd just go from being an enlisted man to an officer.

#3 - Military Intelligence. Who didn't see this coming. I'd handle intelligence.

#4 - I could try out for Special Forces. Go to Selection, as it's known. If I didn't make the cut I'd go back to being job #2. I actually thought about going out for Selection for the last couple years, but...eh. Never got around to filling out a packet for it. I'd have to learn a new language to be a green beret, and dear god I'm so lazy.

#5 - Helicopter Pilot. That one sort of came out of left field, but the college I'm going to is actually an aeronautical university and aeronautics is part of my degree. So...I guess I can fly helicopters is I want to.

Where is the option to move to europe and join the SAS?

I vote CID, because they get to enforce the law, even among their higher-ups.

I voted CID as well. it just sounds like it would be a cool job.
my dad is in intelligence he works for NGA (national geospacial intelligence agency) hes works in the asia pacific department, and he cant tell me more than "I am a geospacial analyist for the NGA" and a few other small things.

XD Do what interests you the most. My uncle was a chopper test pilot for a decade or so, and he seemed to enjoy it.

I couldn't resist. Anyway, personally I wouldn't even be in the army, but if you want my opinion go for helicopter pilot.

I'd go for pilot, too. Not only is it totally awesome, but hey, when oyu retire, you can sell helicopter rides to tourists.

Helicopter pilot sounds like the best to me. My dad was a helicopter pilot with the 10th mountain in the 80's. He was stationed at katterbach in germany for the most part. It will be fun, and give you more interesting stories!

I voted Helicopter Pilot a while ago, but I didn't get the chance to say.

But yeah, go with that, it should be very helpful.

So far it looks like CID or pilot is the way to go.

My old man was a pilot too, and a green beret, flew with the 160th special operations aviation regiment. I am very interested in flying, likely I'd be flying the guys I used to work with to drop them off where ever. That might get frustrating for me, the "I want to go with you!" symptom, but I think going back to a real bed at night instead of sleeping in the dirt might let me overcome that.

CID would be ironic, because while I have a genuine dislike for cops (there is a little known but powerful contempt usually help between civilian cops and military personnel...cops *love* exerting their power over us when they pull us over), that's really what I'd be. A military version of an undercover special investigator.


(For those of you who don't know, I really am equally torn between all 5. I'll be going with the popular vote, unless something serious happens to dissuade me for some reason.)
