I feel a real jerk for making an account to ask this, but it's been nagging me. ^^;

Is Twokinds influenced at all by Black Tapestries?
( blacktapestries . comicgenesis . com/ )
There are so many similarities that it's getting hard to ignore. Especially when a character called Isaac turned up and cursed somone. In both comics, the animal people are slaves. Here they're called Keidran, there Kaetif. There are many many other parallells as well. I don't know which comic was made first.
I'm trying to come across interested, rather than accusing, because I don't mind either way. I'd just like to know!
Sorry! :?

Black Tapestries seems to have been made first-the copyright date is 2002-2005, while 2Kinds is 2003-2008.

I'm not sure, I would think that Tom was influenced by an array of outside sources. I tend to doubt that he was heavily influenced by this one comic, though. Sage would probably know.

Sorry, I wasn't totally helpful. =^.^=

I doubt he'd ever steal from another strip to the point of being a rip-off, but I couldn't rule out he hasn't read it and been influenced. I write fiction and I make a point to read as much as I can to get ideas for plots, themes, how to work around issues, etc. But odds are, no, I doubt Tom's toiling in his mother's basement, nefariously conjuring up some plan to steal yet another string from the tapestry of webcomics.

Also, thank GOD you came here. I've been looking for that strip for AGES.

*runs to Black Tapestries to troll the new strips!*

OK, that makes sense.

...but I wouldn't count on too many new strips. It seems to be freezing up some. :|

Yeah, noticed that. Stopped reading when it stopped in August, and I see there's only been a tiny bit of story afterward and a lot more filler. Damned if it isn't a good read, though.

While checking out both 2kinds and BT, I found something very interesting about the two "Issacs". During Natani's first solo mission with Zen, the magi brothers encountered an "old wolf" known as Issac who possessed powerful, forbidden, magic. In Black Tapestries, Issac is a fox Kaetif who also possesses powerful magic. Aside from being two different species, the two Issacs both have very uncanny similarities. In theory, it could be possible that the 2kinds Issac is based on the Issac in Black Tapestries, which gives strong evidence that 2kinds is partially based on BT, or perhaps this is all a coincidence. Any thoughts?

Or, Issac is some kind of tribute to BT? Like, an Easter-Egg style reference?

Or Tom is getting paid under the counter by an underground cult named The Order of Isaac, and we will all be murdered for uncovering this mystery!

Or Issac is a common name and if you really want to think that because the name Issac was used its copying then id like to point out that Black Tapestries stole the name Issac from the Bible! And my name was stolen from the bible too! OMG OMG!

Really now people - there isnt some kind of "Ridiculous similarity" here. Last i checked Tom doesnt read Black Tapestries (its possible he just hasnt mentioned it before but if he gave it a cameo of any kind you would probably have a journal post about it)- heck ive only recently heard of it- and I dont have any interest in reading a heavy furry comic.

Read it anyway! It's actually quite well done, even if the art is a bit in need of improvement. Plus it's not furry along the lines of "OMG FURRY BOOBS!" It's just good storytelling.

See? Told you Sage would know.

My name was stolen from the bible, too. I am Saint Thomas of Gauntesburg, the guy who enslaved Cat Girls for his own personal sexification.

I'm wondering how many people actually believed that before reading the last word...

All right, all right, calm down...
Like I said, I just wanted to know if any inspiration/ideas came from there.
