ok there's this one issue that's been p***ing the hell out of me. how the hell do you post images in your signature? i've tried countless methods but nothing works. if you guys could give detailed instructions on how you did it that would be great :)

and i MEAN detailed, because i need some idea of what you guys are talking about (i'm not to great with the tech terms that people like to use so much).

Just surround your picture's URL with tags and it should work, providing you're not using a Flickr photo. If so, delete the j=0 at the end of the URL. They add that to prevent bandwidth theft.

lol

I'd say use imageshack.us.
They claim they never delete pictures (which is a good thing). You can upload without an account and as long as the website you post on isn't on their black list you should be fine.

Though if just want to post something without knowing all the details :P
1) Have a picture (either on your hard drive or a picture you found on the web).

2) Go to http://imageshack.us/ .

3)
Image
First click the type you want, 'image' for a pic from your hard drive or 'url' if you found the pic on the web.

4) Browse and select the image or paste the url of the image (depending on the option you choose)

- OPTIONAL THINGS -
Continue with 5 if you want to.

Image
These 'tags' are used when you search imageshack for images. Not really necessary if you just want to post them on a forum.

Image
With these options you can resize your picture if you want (NOTE: if the image you want to upload exceeds 1.53 MB imageshack will resize it automatically to fit that requirement)
If you don't like the size/resolution bar in your thumbnails check it. Not recommended for a forum because users may not realize there is a bigger picture when they click on it.

5) Click 'host it!'

6) After you get to the 'Done' page you have several options:
Image
For large images use the "Thumbnail for forums (1)" code, select and copy then paste it in your post (click preview to see how it looks).

Basically this will give a small preview picture for people to see. They have to click the image if they want to see the full image. Try to avoid big pictures for 2 reasons: People with limited bandwidth will have a much easier time browsing the forum and big pictures stretch the webpage so others have to scroll horizontally to fully see other people's post (very, VERY annoying).

Image
But if your image isn't large (like the one you want in your sig), scroll down the 'Done' page. The most bottom link should have the caption "Direct link to image", copy it and paste it between [img]*the%20url%20goes%20here*[/img] tags.

7) To make the image appear in your signature go to your profile and scroll down:
Image
Everything you write there will be appended after every post you make (if 'attach signature' is enabled).
Though there are restrictions.

8) Always click preview first if you're not sure ;).

Oh by the way: to make things a lot easier, simply install imageshack's toolbar:
http://toolbar.imageshack.us/
Image
This plugin allows you to quickly upload images to imageshack.

Note:
Some may think imageshack as evil, but I say that there is nothing more annoying to read a tutorial with pictures uploaded that aren't available anymore...

Ok, maybe it's a bit overkill but maybe it can serve a purpose as a tutorial... 8)

ok fastchapter, i didn't use a Flickr photo, i used both imageshack and photobucket. and Cryzbl, your method is a little tough to figure out, but when i copied the imageshack codes, they always come up as the codes and not the image

the imageshack codes are uppercase
This might be the cause of the problem, especially if you aren't using the default theme

If all else fails, scream wildly at the monitor until people come and take you to the hospital for evaluation.

actually i got some tech support from the mods and admins, it turned out that i had the BBCode disabled *facepalm*. me not being a tech wiz when it comes to understanding what something like a BBCode is, i would've never figured it out.
