I need some help. I know some of you on the forums are married so this is where I'm enlisting your help specificly. If you aren't married, or engaged, don't fret. I could use all the input possible.

My Flora is getting married to her Trace. Yay! Well... Not only am I her Maid of Honor [w00t] but I'm also her Wedding Planner x-x

I'm making her cake, we're both pitching in on the decor and favors etc.

She hasn't decided on her location. She wants it outdoors, but it's a winter wedding, so I'm going to have to fight with her about it. There's several places she can do both the reception, and the wedding, that includes catering so I have to call those places ASAP.

Anywho, my problem is overall organization. What do I need to get done, what should I take care of first, etc.

I've already enlisted the website 'The Knot'... and it's helped, some.

Any suggestions? We're going to try and pull this wedding off for under $3,000 and in approx. 6 months. [She wants to be married in October or November.]
Edit: Man. I KNOW, this is going to be over $3k. The prices on these things are outrageous...

You have GOT to make them a 2K wedding cake. I mean, come on, would that not be the most awesome cake ever? You should put thison the top, lol...

Anyways, as for outside in the winter, I'd say that's not too great of an idea... I mean, If you're on the Atlantic coast, you probably don't have very mild winters, ne? Unless she's dead set against an indoor wedding, I'd push for climate control...

Not much else I can say about it. In my opinion, weddings are the second biggest waste of money on Earth, after indoor plumbing. Any way you can talk them into a quick Las Vegas wedding?

Either way, good luck. Look at it this way: you can make her plan YOUR wedding. =^.^=

Edit: First reply! W00t!

That would be cute. Maybe a 1st year anniversary cake or something of that sort. Or for her baby shower o_o I did mention she's pregnant right?

IRONY!

Anywho... bleh I lost track of my thought cause she called. I'll post later.

I dunno, how mild are Virginia winters? In Alabama, an outside wedding first of November is fairly common. The biggest difficulty will most likely be cooperating weather (rained out wedding, what?)

My wedding took place in a friend's house, wearing a borrowed dress, so my knowledge of an actual planned wedding is minimal. However, it's amazing what you can find at places like Dollar Tree (are those common in Virginia?) There's an entire aisle devoted to wedding gewgaws...and some of them actually look rather nice. You might also want to check out parks, and places of that nature....the more you can get away with not paying for, the better

Yeah we're definately going to give Dollar Tree some business [yes they actually have an HQ building here. It's in Chesapeake]. We're going to get a lot of the table decorations from there and hand make them.

Our issue at the moment is catering and location. I'm trying to get them into a hotel, even if it's just for the banquet.

Well you could always come done here to Florida and have a wedding on the beach or have a good`ole redneck weddin lol J/K.(Yes believe it there are rednecks in north Florida :P) I can`t think of any thing for the wedding right now but you could have a snow ball fight at the reception, and for decorations look at the flea market well that is if they have one up there. Good luck. Wedding planning is always a stressful job (imagin how the wedding planner for the presidents daughter must have felt     ).As for catering try sonnys if theres one up there,????, and as for a hotel DON`T TELL THEM IT`S FOR A WEDDING SOME PLACES WILL CHARGE YOU MORE AND SAY THAT RATES HAVE GONE UP AND THEY HAVE`NT UPDATED THEIR WEBSITE WHEN THE WEBSITE SAYS IT WAS LAST UP DATED 5 MIN`S AGO!!!!!!!!!!
