a .bin file is a Mac Binary file. They tend to be used by macs to send a file over the net without losing any of the metadata and when something is programmed using a mac like certain games consoles or network routers.

Since it's an image, it's probably a file, so you could try unpacking it on a mac, or there are several windows-compatible unpackers that should be able to do .bin files

actually it is also a binary file on windows computers. the wii just interprets it as an image and ignores the extension.

full list of uses here

Neat ... never new that, i've only ever seen them used as a method of zipping (for lack of a better word) files and for programming somethings.

unfortunately this is where i don't know what to do without listing a bunch of possible things to try, since we don't know how the wii actually interprets the data just that it is binary and an image. you could just try changing the extension to a few common image types but that is just a shot in the dark.

ok, this is also a long shot but if you open the file is there any ascii data(goupings of either two numbers, two letters, or one of each aka: A7 E9 etc.) if so could you post it because that i can translate and possibly tell you what file type it is. sorry if i am not very helpful but i avoid this file type for the reason everything uses them.

There are converters for this because I saw one on StumbleUpon, but I don't know exactly where to find them. Try google.
