Just finnished playing through the entire game on Master difficulty, and I'm about ready to start up another one. Got the ending where I get to the Monolith and "wish to be rich". Fun stuff, being crushed under about a thousand pounds of steel.

I don't know why I really like the game though. It's buggy as all hell, and the AI an be just moronic at times, but the game just grows on me.

I think it's the setting and the atmosphere that does it. It just gnaws at me. The fact that it's rather challenging doesent hurt either.

So anyone else play the game, or am I just one of those lonely people? And if you did, what ending did you get?

It gets much easier once you get a new gun. I couldn't hit crap with the first pistol. I recommend it, tway. lots of fun.

Is it any good? I've seen the HD previews on Steam and I've considered downloading it, but doubt it would deliver.

Any demos I can get a hold of, maybe?

I don't know much about Demos, but it is a good one. Unapreciated, and it has some terrible bugs at time (I ran into a solider that could shoot through solid walls at one time) But the atmosphere is compleing, the setting relativly believable, the world open, and the combat fun. Also, it can be super hard, which I like alot.

In a lot of ways it's like Oblivion with guns.

Here's a video review that sums it up pretty nicely: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwaV-d_K7tk

Not a clue, I got my hard copy for only 20 dollars though.

Can't be too expensive, can it?

Nope, 19.99 on Steam. I might try it if it's less expensive than HL2:Ep 2. I need to play that first...

I haven't beaten it yet, either. Haven't played in a few weeks (been busy). It's decent enough. Worth the $20, certainly. Not nearly as groundbreaking as it was made out to be in the hype, but it's still enjoyable. Admittedly, once you get some decent weapons, you can pretty much just power through it. Granted, I'm only on "Stalker" difficulty. (I usually play through on "Normal" before I decide if I want to play through again on harder difficulty levels.) Not nearly as easy as Bioshock was, though.

Bioshock was a cakewalk. I don't know how I can be scared if I can reliably beat folks to death with a wrench. Fun, but not scary.

Then again, I play every game I have on the hardest difficult because I like being outgunned and outnumbered. Victory is all the sweeter in those cases.

Redownloading Steam right now. I think once it's done, and I have Half Life 2, HL2:Ep1, Portal, and Team Fortress downloaded, I'll buy Episode 2 and get Gary's Mod for kicks and giggles.

Nice

You get to play as everyones favorite Mute once more. Fantabulous!

EDIT:

Gleeeee!

I just downloaded a mod for my second run through and it is fantastic!

Itadded some new monsters (don't care) changed some textures (don't care) upped the difficulty (Do care! Yes!) and made stealth a viable long term solution (JOY!)

I love this game so much now. So very much.

stalker was a gem of a game. Those crazy Ukranians sure do know how to make a game.

I finished this a while back, first was "I want to be rich" ending then after that I got to the real ending. Which I couldn't watch because of it being so dern buggy!
