Location: The people in the white lab coats won't tell me.
Setting: A huge city, drifting through space, enveloped in mystery. A haven for drifters, criminals, and rebels alike, they gather in the slums of this monstrous urban sprawl. There is no order, there is no law, yet there is no panic, no chaos. Creatures never before seen by human eyes roam the streets, each from different systems. Magic is a skill many have, but in which few are skilled. And, at the head of it all, is a being known simply as "The Boss". Few have ever seen the boss, and those that have recoil in fear whenever he is brought up. To cross The Boss is death. To cross The Boss is a trip to The Arena.

The Arena, the center of it all, the place which the entire Necropolis is built around. Many flock there, their lust for violence driving them forward, ever forward, to see the spectacle. Some cheer for their favorite, some place bets, and some even fight themselves. However, the one event that everyone must see is known as "Death's Tournament". None of the regulars compete, every contestant is hand picked by The Boss, becoming slaves, and they will fight to the death. The lone survivor will become the raining champ, if they can defeat the current one, and be rewarded with anything they desire. You think you're up for it?

System: This is a fight to the death style tournament, and the victors will be decided by random numbers and stats. You are given 30 point to distribute amongst the 4 stats as you see fit, and I will give you another 10 that I will distribute as I see fit. (Translation: You'll get 10 more points at random) There are 3 species to pick from, each has its advantage and disadvantages, but we'll get to those latter.

The Stats:

Power: Effects the amount of damage you deal.
Skill: The higher this number, the more likely you will hit your target. This chance WILL be 0 if you don't put points here.
Speed: Gives a small advantage in attack priority and effects how well you dodge.
Endurance: Effects how much damage you take, how much you can take, and how easily you will block an attack. ((Blocked attacks do less damage, but you don't get off Scott free))

At the end of every successful victory, you will be given another 5 stat points, which will be assigned randomly.

There is also one hidden stat that effects everything to a small extent. About 2-5%. Not much, but a high score in this can greatly raise your chances.

The Species: Each species has a bias. The bias for a stat means it is slightly more likely to go up, and against mean slightly less likely to go up. The stat biased towards has a higher cap, while the one biased against have a lower cap.

Betyla: An insect like race, they have hard, armor-like shells. They walk upright on 4 spider like legs and have two arms farther up. The race has a cultural taboo (as well as a law) that prohibits magic. It is punishable by death. This species is biased towards Endurance and against Power.

Lecart: A lizard like race, they have large forearms, huge heads and jaws, and near non existent necks. They are actually quite stupid, and the best magic ever recorded from a member of this species was a barely functional matchstick spell. They are biased towards Power, and against Skill.

Humans: Humans are a peculiar race, as they have learned to enhance their own bodies. They come in two groups.

Cybernetic: A human that has semi-robotic implants. They are meant mainly as replacements, and do not come with any good weaponry. The best recorded weapon is a simple shiv the popped out of a palm. The mechanics required for their function take up most of the space. The mechanics inside are delicate and slightly more easily damaged than human bones. By sacrificing part of their body, their magical aptitude drops. They are biased towards Speed, and against Endurance.

Normal: These humans usually practice magic if they fight at all, and by far are the best at it. Nothing overly remarkable about them beyond their magical aptitude. Biased towards Skill and against Speed.

Here's the Character Sheet:

Name:
Species: (Cybernetic Human, Normal Human, Lecart, or Betyla)
Power:
Skill:
Speed:
Endurance:
Description: (Describe your character. If you pick an alien species, you can kinda skip this step, but provide something distinguishing about them.)
History: (What was you life like before you were doomed to death? I'm curious. Please include some reason for The Boss to pick you.)

A quick note, only normal humans will be allowed to use anything above a matchstick type spell, sorry, but I gave reasons for every other race not to use it.

Who battles who is determined with a "pick from the hat" sort of thing. Grudge matches are allowed after the tournament. They have magic, they can bring you back to life if they want. They don't usually want to.

Here are the rules:

1 - I am thy god. I will be fair, but if I decide to kill your character, don't whine. Or I will make him die in his sleep in a pool of his own piss, and give your opponent a free ride. No fun for anyone really.
2 - I will tell both contestants who wins/loses their battles. No one else is to know until you are done.
3 - I will tell you basically how the battle goes. I will tell you something like "Player X dodged frequently" or "Player Y blocked a lot." If you dodge/block/hit too often, I will make the guards kill you.
4 - I am heartless so long as I am GM. Whine, and all your character will be DQ'd. I will give you a warning, maybe two. Whining does not include "My character loses? Well, that sucks." You are allowed to show displeasure with your character losing. Just no whining.
5 - I am not afraid to call Yash in. Behave.
6 - There will be some time between battles for socialization, but not much. You can start fights, and there will be no punishments for the players. Your character may mysteriously lose a few HP before his next fight tho... Kinda a side effect of fights.
7 - NO FIREARMS, NO GUNS, NO LAZERS. The guards may have some, but I wouldn't try to take any of them on if I were you.

After I get some people, I may reveal my character, the current champ. Don't mess with him, as he will be hanging around between battles. Seriously, don't eff with him. You'll regret it.

Also, don't be afraid to get creative with the weaponry.

Name: Azdrubeal
Species: Lecart
Power: 10
Skill: 8
Speed: 6
Endurance: 6
Description: stands 6'6" tall, extremely muscular, has a tattoo that reads "Only in death can one be free from slavery" on his left arm
Weaponary: A Katath (a large pole arm weapon, it has two blades that form a V-shape on the end of a large, rune-inscribed pole) The runes inscribed translate loosely to "If one fears death, one may never embrace freedom" and "If on wishes to accomplsh a goal, one must let nothing stand in their way".
History: Has always believed that fearing death prevents one from embracing freedom (as evident by the rune inscription on his Katath) and that only death frees one from slavery (as evident by his tattoo). Was raised by his father to become he champion of the tournament and will let nothing stand in his way. When he isn't competing or training with his Katath he is lifting weights to build up his already enormous muscles. He believes he was picked by "The Boss" due to his attitude towards becoming champion and the fact that he fears death.

Creative enough Kilroy

Your weapon doesn't make much sense to me. Care to provide a picture or something? Also, your history doesn't really give a reason The Boss would pick you.

Glad to have a magician! Get a better weapon description, and a more meaty history, and I'll approve you.

Alright Dragoon, I accept the weapon, but I'd like to offer a different history, because The Boss is a bigger [censored] than you guys are giving him credit for.

History: The Boss released a drought upon a city, hoping to weed out the weaklings. He needed people for "Death's Tournament" after all. This woman was the only to survive the attack, and he ordered her capture. Is highly amused by her pain, and has offered to bring her family back if she wins. (He's lying BTW)

There you go, if that's fine with you, you are APPROVED!!! Also, you haven't seen The Boss. He's very secretive.

Also, that's good Auron.

Just need some more people.

Technically, the losers are supposed to die. Unless you plan on making Franken-testants, I'd say no. If you want to patch up the winners (they WILL take a beating, it is a fight to the death after all) that's fine.

I'd still prefer if you'd make a contestant, but I'm not gonna make you for a while.

I'll agree with my spam-mail there: They should be artificially lengthened.

anyway, I've never been one to go against other players: never suits me, that's why I've never PK'd anyone in any online game I play.

I probably should have mentioned this sooner, but we'll need at least 8 people. A 2 round tourney isn't very fun now is it?

I'm gonna have to PM people that showed interest in this now, aren't I? *sigh*
