Gene sneezed, then sat lazily up in bed. His room, nay, the whole area was an underground bunker, so there wasn't any light, but flicking the electric light on would only create a dim, swaying view of the cramped living space he knew so well.
Not that I can afford any better. he thought, standing up and opening a small, old fridge containing a modest amount of non-perishable cans and pre-ackaged food that needed no cooking preparations to eat. He swiped a sausage and closed the door, turning the light on as he stepped the two strides back to his bed and sat down, opening and eating the sausage slowly.
"I could use a drink...." He thought wistfully to himself, knowing that at the moment he couldn't afford such luxuries.

Jukai yawned as he awoke, feeling the slight breeze across his muzzle. he quickly gathered his belongings, taking care not to touch his axe's blade, and looked around him. The desolate landscape was the same as it had been the night before, but still: one couldn't be too cautious.

Orea was already up, in fact was on her way to her chamber for a good day's rest, when Count Archaon raced past her, cursing something against the humans like he usually did. She simply watched him go. It had been almost ten years since she last spoke, and a yelling superior wasn't high on her list of feeling like laughing. Not him: he'd probably just get angrier.
