I never really cared about Aeris.

Let's see...
Does Sonic Battle count?(The ending really got me and actually made me cry.)

Must search older.

Can't really remember anything else.

Well, yeah. Aeris' death DID make me cry a tear or two. Good twist.

In CoD 4, I just hated and got sad that Gaz, Griggs, and Price died on the last level.

The end of FFX was pretty bad until seeing the good end of X-2.

Also, Price didn't die. Only Gaz and Briggs.

talked it over with my gamer friend and here are a few I can think of:

the end of HL2ep2 where Eli dies.. yeah that really sucked

in Ultima 9 where the Avatar nukes himself to save everyone else

Ultima 7 serpent isle where your 3 friends become the 3 banes

Homeworld when you hyperspace back to earth and find it completely destroyed and the cryo trays being attacked.

When Aggro falls off the cliff in Shadow of the Colossus

in Mass Effect when you have to pick which friend dies...

I'm sure I can think of more but I have to be looking at the title to remember what happened in the game for the most part.

The one for PS1 is just called Final Fantasy VII >___>
And I was cheering when she died.

Hmn... saddest moment...

Legend of Dragoon. The death of Lavitz.

Oh, definitely the endings of the first two Lufia games.

Some of the partial endings of Chrono Trigger.

When the Metroid died in Super Metroid (I thought it was sad, at least)

Most of the stuff that happens at the end of Breath of Fire II (poor Ryu's mother).

All the sad stuff in FF VI.

Galuf dieing in FF V.

The end of Terranigma.

The ninja parents in Tales of Phantasia and the ending about Dhaos.

That's all I can think about off the top of my head.

I know that FFX wasn't even close to being the best in the series, but...the interaction between Tidus and the bunch and Jecht, before the final battle. That was pretty damn sad. Can't hold a candle to the death of Aeris, but still, really sad. Also, quite a few movies I've seen, some of them recently, most of which I can't remember off the top of my head. Except when Will Smith's character had to kill his own dog in I am Legend...But, that's kinda off topic since this is in the gaming bored. I'm sure I'll think of something else eventually.

Shouldn't there be a huge spoiler warning for this thread?

Mine would be... I can't think of it right now...

I'd have to agree with SixDreams

CoD4 ending. i mean seriously, how can you justify that when Price had a goddamn pistol on him, that he gives to you instead of using it himself!!!

because you have a better shot and it's more climatic that way. the last stand hero.

my saddest moment is for a TV show but for a game it was ....name escapes me but it's the usual sad ending the hero gives his life to save everyone then the heroes wife looks out over the sea and done a whole sad remembrance thing dropping a treasured item of the hero into the sea and it floats away into the sunset,

it made me Cry Y_Y and still does when i think about it ............i wish i could remember the name dammit.

Dawn of War: When the two Guardsmen who held their own for weeks against Eldar and Orks get themselves killed showing you where the Eldar are coming from. Sorry, but that just made me sad.

Morrowind: When you read some of the papers on what happened on Red Mountain. While none knows for sure exactly WHICH papers tell the truth, some imply that Dagoth Ur was actually the only loyal one of the bunch.

Final Fantasy Tactics: Two here. [SPOILER]The death of the guy who writes the truth of the Lion War (Orlandu or something, I think), and when you realize your whole party (Including special characters, those you grew on from the beginning as a squire, etc) dies in the endgame.[/END SPOILER]

And generally: Any good, long game that has unique characters that you grow on, and know you'll never see again after endgame (Megaman Legends, Brave Fencer Musashiden, etc). In fact, feth, Musashi in general had me sad at a bunch of points. Leaderforce, 'Jon', the fact that it'll never be continued, etc.

In Klonoa: Door to Phantomile when Grandpa dies...and then again in the end of the game when Klonoa is sucked out of the dimension. It's always the games that no one else has played that gets me for some reason, I must be weird.

There are probably others but thats the one that made the biggest impact on me.

Eli dies?! Lavitz dies?! Jeez people, spoiler warning! Granted, Legend of Dragoon is an old game, but Episode 2 isn't. And i just started Legend Of Dragoon too.

My saddest moment was Sgt Paul Jackson's death. The ending I thought was great, I never like Griggs, he annoyed me, Gaz COULD still be alive >.> People have taken exceptionally long drillbits through the head before. Price is never confirmed dead (plus, the voices in Mile High Club are CLEARLY Gaz and Price). And Paul Jackson was a character that you actually played as.

The ending of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater was one of the saddest moments in gaming for me.

The fact that the only person who ever came close to a mother to you betrays you and your country, and one of your missions is to kill her. And when you confront her for the last time. She tells you the story of how she did everything for her country. Fought for it, lived for it, worked for it, saved it, and ultimately dies for it. Her entire betrayal was a cover up for the government. She knew she wouldn't live. She couldnt have a baby because of expirements went over on her by the government.

And near the end. YOU have to kill her. After you beat her in a fight. You have to watch a cutscene. Then watch her lay on the ground dying. And then you have to pull the trigger.

Then it goes on saying how even though she saved the entire country, she will be regarded as a traitor in history. Only YOU know what she did.

It made Snake Cry :(
