I searched to see if this was in a thread and I didn't find it so... I must ask. Did Mike's voice not change when he was turned into a girl? It would make more sense with the 'illusion' idea.

From wikipedia: An illusion is a distortion of a sensory perception, revealing how the brain normally organizes and interprets sensory stimulation.

So, did his voice not change but it reacted to Eval's and Mike's brain that it did? Or did it just change?

I thought illusions for appearance.

It depends entirely upon Tom's rules for his world.

Illusions are not only appearance, never are they only appearance. They can affect any of the senses, not just sight. They can affect sight, scent, sound, touch, taste, anything.

And in worlds of magic, illusions as being 'not-real' are only the weaker of the illusions. It is entirely possible for an illusion to actually change the world around it, but based off the principles of perception rather than physical alteration. Think in terms of Schrödinger's cat, or other thought experiments where observation creates reality.

So, from the sounds of it, I would think it is safe to say that his voice does sound different to others around him, but not just Evals. He had to have talked to somebody else at one point or another just to get to the room in the first place.




I would have to agree with Kryss, it is all up to Tom and how much of the "Illusion" he wants to portray here.

Tom has stated the it is an illusion as far as that it is a 'deviation from reality'. This implies that the change may be a complete physical change, and not just altered perceptions.

In any case, Mike's Keidran voice would not have changed.

Mike just got his daddy parts turned into mommy parts. His brain still runs on man-fuel.

There wouldn't be a story if that wasn't the case.

As far as the illusion goes, I'd say it's a pretty convincing one, as not only does it fool sight, it also fools touch, as can be seen when Mike is groping himself for confirmation.

Methinks Trace should sneeze just as Mike shows his ta-tas, and the magic burst makes em go floppy and nasty.

it sure doesnt seem that way. Illusions are indeed taking place, on everything. Though, because of the differences the mind is interpreting in a different order. Mike's strength, as seen a little back, is meerly meaning that actual girls had strength all along, they just dont beleive it.

That's basically how I interpreted it as well. Mike wasn't commenting on 'phantom' range, but rather remarking that his new form is equally strong.

When I said in another thread that I imagined Mike's voice getting deeper in the last comic with him and Evals (implying that it was higher earlier), that still holds for me, even though I know better now.

My point was that the drawings of him in the most recent page with him in it don't strike me as glaringly female, as they've been doing--it looks like he's starting to change back.

Mike's lucky it's just an illusion. As already proven, it's more than possible to turn someone into something else, even as extreme as human -> keidran.

Speaking of which... what ever happened to the other party? With Trace's friend, and the blue-haired girl and Raine?
