Hey everyone =^_^= I was wondering if you have any suggestions on getting fit and losing weight, like workout regimes and eating habits. Kinda gained a bit from the holidays... stupid turkey and ham.

If it's literally just holiday overindulgence that made you uncomfortable, a few good walks around the neighborhood after school or what not will fix that.

a really good tip is to take stairs as often as possible... even if it takes longer it really helps. (not to mention build your endurance for longer walks and more stairs)

another good one (from what I hear) is drinking a LOT of water don't really do it so I can't vouch for its helpfulness

Try to keep your caloric intake under 3000...buy one of those mini-trampolines and hop on it while watching TV...after a while, you'll be able to do it all day with no problem, and your vertical leap will be insane...
;3

Don't do it in a short room though.
I think I once banged my head on a friend's ceiling.

Drinking a lot of water does help... but going to the bathroom like 20 times and hour isnt fun... especially during lecture halls =^_^=, theres nothing but stairs in the dorms... but i don't want to seem like a psycho going up and down the stairs... but it does help :)

Drinking water instead of eating's an old wrestling trick. It does work, as you've noted, and it improves your kidney function, provided you don't overdo it. Do Tuna one better -- keep your caloric intake under about 2500 (that's what an active guy my age burns; if you're trying to lose weight and you're still young, then that'll be under what you need).

If you want to lift weights, get some decent free weights. They'll give you a better workout, more even muscle strength, and are less likely to injure you than doing bench (the free weights force both arms to work equally, rather than letting your strong arm compensate for your weaker arm, and force your body to keep its balance).

If you've got it, DDR. Nothing like pushing a marathon twenty to thirty minute set of sevens through nines. (I used to do that twice a week at the arcade when I was in college). And you don't look any more psychotic than any other DDR player.

Make certain you eat breakfast every day. By eating breakfast, you'll kick your metabolism into gear at the beginning of the day, so you'll burn a lot more calories than you gain from the meal. Eat more often (if you eat a healthy little snack every couple hours, it keeps your body from releasing a set of hormones that make you hungrier). Don't eat out -- cook your own food when possible. It's much easier to make sure you know what goes into it and keep it healthier. (This is provided you're not like me and bake bread pudding every couple days. ;))

What I do to keep in shape everyday is;

35 push ups
60 sit ups
30 minute run
15 minutes of stretching and breathing exercises.

the reason I do so much is to balance the fact that smoking and drinking isn't good for you.

As for regimes:
wake up: 10 push ups and 20 situps (to get the blood flowing)
breakfast: carbohydrates(cereal or toast) followed by a jog around the block.
(go to work or maybe school)
(get back) : 35 push ups
after: 40 sit ups and 20-30 min run
end: stretching and breathing exercises to warm down, then a hot shower.

FOOD!
stick to fresh vegetables, fruits and carbohydrates and stay clear of any fast food. Don't drink too much coffee(caffiene causes retna damage). personally I eat a lot of red meat, (protein is good for muscle development)

The way my brother and I lose weight and keep in shape is eat several small meals a day, drink nothing but water, tea, or fruit/vegetable juices, and walk a LOT.

Luckily for me, I have the luxury of not being able to afford anymore than the essentials; rice and potatoes etc.

maybe I should stop smoking.... mmm that might help... I'll think about it.

Here's my routine:

Stretch- this cannot be overemphasized. If you don't, you will regret it severely. Always, always stretch.

Run- 1/2 mile jog, 2-3 mile run, 1/2 mile jog to warm up (jogging is slower than running)

Seeing as my gym can be crowded, I rotate to whatever I can find at this point. About 2 hours of upper and lower body workouts: biceps, triceps, leg extensions, etc.

Depending on how much energy I have left, I may play some racquetball with friends, or just screw around with some judo. 3-4 hours later, I am exhausted.

If you're just starting out, especially if your building muscles, you're going to want to put on a lot of weights the first time. DON'T! If your body isn't used to building muscles, if won't be able to compensate the first time you go to the gym. You'll feel great while working out, but you'll be so sore you can't move the next day.

Once you start building muscles, stretching becomes even more important. If you forget, you'll end up losing a lot of flexibility, and thats not fun.

But if you don't want to (or can't) go to a gym, running is an excellent way of getting into shape. You can just grab a pair of tennis shoes and set out. Plus, there's just something unusually rewarding that comes from a nice, long run.

If you want to stay in shape, just don't drink/smoke. That will destroy your cardio, and a beer belly won't help your abdominals at all.

I do around.
Lift a forty pound weight 80 times daily (for both arms)
Lift (for shoulders) around 90-100 pound weights (30 times for each shoulder)
Lift (for legs) 120 pounds 25 times (would do more, but I get bored around halfway through lol)
Bench weight 120 pounds 20 times (once again, I could do more, but I get bored easily, I took note that I could do it 40+ times if I actually wanted to)
and then after that I do 150 sit ups ( not like it helps, another one of those where I get bored easily and don't do more when I should)

I also wear ankle weights around my legs when at school, to help get exersize while walking between clases. I also carry a large sack that has all of my books and folders in it, and weights as much as one of my friends ( she's small, around 90 something pounds >.>;; )

I eat whatever I want. :D I'm big boned, so losing weight doesn't matter much to me. :D

but that's just me...<_<;;

Edit: I forgot to mention that in the beginning, I walked for an hour or so and then did push ups when I got home, along with a leg squat like excersize thing to work my legs some more ( and wether or not you believe me, I did 800-1000 of those suckers)
