Blackness... And wetness. Ani got up, shivering with cold. She was confused... Where was she? More importantly, who was she? She looked around. It was raining- which explained why she felt so cold- and the clouded darkened the land... She saw figures close to her, laying on the ground as well... They were in a large crater in the middle of a forest of pine trees... She turned around, and saw someone sitting, propped up against a rock. She moved towards the figure, and pulled its hood off. She stared at the face for a few seconds, frozen in horror and fear as she gazed upon the face within. The face within was that a of a skeleton...

Groaning, Vincent sat up, shaking his head.


"Ooooowwww..... wha-what happened?" he mumbled, more to himself as he allowed the blurriness of his vision and he ringing in his ears to fade and he regained his sense of the world about him.

Sikana moaned as he opened his eyes slowly, the rain drenched world around him blurry and unclear as he tried pushing himself up from the muddied crater. Sikana's ears perked up as the sound of falling rain made a soft pitter-patter around him, striking the damp soil that had seeped into his fur. He laid there a moment in the mud stareing into space as he tried looking for the strength with in him to get up.

Holding himself up on his hands he brought his legs under him to kneel as he gazed around a world that seemed so unfamiliar to him. Looking around the crater other figures were seen. Most of them seeming to remain in a "sleep" like state though a few others where stirring as well.

He looked himself over letting the rain try and wash out the impurities in his fur as he looked up to spot a girl a little younger than him face to face with a hooded object that seemed to be sitting on the edge of the crater.

Trying to remember who he was and how he got there he stared at the proped figure, looking past the girl as he did so though in the end drawing up a blank canvas on his mind.

Ani scrambled away from the skeleton, a look of terror on her face. It slowly faded into a dull sense of creepiness... Why would someone put a skeleton in a cloak out here? And... What was that? She walked closer to it, hesitantly, and grabbed the strange object it had been holding... A book. She looked at it, and noticed that for some reason, it was not wet; water seemed to be repelled by it; the rain did not touch the book.

"That's rather odd..."
She looked around, and noticed that two of the others were up.

"Hello? Who might you people be?"

Vincent's vision cleared to see the tiger-woman, and he caught half the question, but enough to understand it.


"...to be honest, I wish you could tell me." he said, looking her, the other keidran that was awake, the dark slump against the rock, and what she appeared to hold.

Savoc's eyes flitted open.
"Ah!" He yelped, sitting up, and grabbing his head.
He clenched his eyes shut, as he waited for something, anything to happen.
Nothing did.
He slowly opened his eyes, the irises colored scarlet, and he began to llok around, taking in everything he saw.

Where was he? That was the main question in his mind. He hadn't noticed the others around him yet, but something told him someone.. or something was near. Instinctively, he reached for his sword.

Vincent grabbed his staff at the sudden movement, and due to the fright his fur puffed out to about twice its normal size.


Calming down quickly, he leaned against his staff.

"So... who are you?" he said, looking around and making sure to take in the people still k.o'd, to prevent furthur surprises.

Sikana kept his gaze fixed on the skeleton a sudden flash of a image coming to mind, but soon faded."What the...?" Sikana thought to himself sighing as his gaze re-adjusted to see the girl though he didn't immediatley answer. Sikana glared with a sudden weariness about the other figures around him.

Silently standing to his feet as he found his footing, looking to each of them spotting the third character who arose from his previous state. Sikana kept his hand on a throwing dagger in his hand, not wanting to trust any of them quiet yet. Looking back to the girl with a slight smile he slid his dagger out of sight."My name?...hmm...my name...you can call me Sikana." He said, not knowing how he came up with that name but it was familiar and seemed to suit him.

"Well, Sikana, it's a pleasure. Wish I had a name o give to you...." Vincent said, lapsing into musings, abruptly ending with him snapping his head back up.

"Vincent! That was my name!.... I think.... I don't know.... am I the only one here who doesn't know what's going on?" he asked questioningly.

"I don't know anything! My name is Ani, and that is all I know... Does anyone have any clue what this book is?"
She held up the black book... It was strange... Snakes and arrows were printed on it... Various runes were etched into it... What was it? Where had it come from? Ani sighed.

"Well, I guess I'm not the only confused person here..."

Savoc pulled the blade from it's sheath. No taking chances.
"Savoc Kurojin." He said, standing up, the blade held loosely in his right hand. It had a soft ethereal glow, resembling that of the sun.
"Now, I have a question, what are you?"

Ani saw the sword in Savoc's hand, cursed, and drew her own weapon.

"What the heck? Why are threatening us; what did we do to you?!?"
She was angry... Who was this guy to pull a weapon on her? He had no right to do that! She looked over to Vincent and Sikana.

"A little help? This guy is nuts!"

Vincent paused, already poised for action.


"Wait a sec... what are we?" he surveyed himself, then turned a look of disbelief to Ani.

"uhh... what are we, anyway? We're all different from each other...." he said exasperatingly, bringing the subject of races to everyone.

"Hey!" Savoc barked back, obviously agitated, "What makes you think I'm nuts! What would YOU do if you woke up surrounded by a bunch of human-like animals!?"

"Hmm? Hey! How do you think we feel, waking up surrounding an animal-acting human?" he countered, then stopped.

"Wait a second..." he looked at himself, then at Savoc.


"What the heck makes you think I think you're crazy?!?"
