((I so should have used this in Highschool oh and by the way I turned 25 on june 8th.))

A father passing by his son's bedroom was astonished

to see that his bed was nicely made and everything was

picked up. Then he saw an envelope, propped up

prominently on the pillow that was addressed to "Dad."

With the worst premonition he opened the envelope with

trembling hands and read the letter.

Dear Dad:

It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing

you. I had to elope with my new girlfriend because I

wanted to avoid a scene with mom and you. I have been

finding real passion with Stacy and she is so nice.

But I knew you would not approve of her because of all

her piercings, tattoos, tight motorcycle clothes and

the fact that she is much older than I am.

But it's not only the passion...Dad...she's pregnant.

Angie said that we will be very happy. She owns a

trailer in the woods and has a stack of firewood for

the whole winter. We share a dream of having many more

children.

Angie has opened my eyes to the fact that marijuana

doesn't really hurt anyone. We'll be growing it for

ourselves and trading it with the other people that

live nearby for cocaine and ecstasy.

In the meantime we will pray that science will find a

cure for AIDS so Angie can get better. She deserves

it.

Don't worry Dad. I'm 15 and I know how to take care of

myself. Someday I'm sure that we will be back to visit

so that you can get to know your grandchildren.

Love, Your Son John

PS. Dad, none of the above is true. I'm over at

Tommy's house. I just wanted to remind you that there

are worse things in life than a bad report card (it's

in my center desk drawer). I love you. Call me when

it's safe to come home.

No, actually, I'm 16. I think it's dumb because I think the reaction would be most different than what the kid intended. :P

thats the point. normaly a kid doesn't think of things like this. i deffently didn't. but it was also a very good point.

While grades are important many parents treat it as if its the end all of everything. and forget that their is more to their kids then just that. I've seen parents that are like that. they already chose what the their childs life will be and they won't be anythig else. putting that into the thought think of how that parent would react.

there is more to it then just that. but it's hard to explain it.

After numerous attempts at failing to do basic subtraction in my head and losing to an 8 year old, my parents gave up on my math ever improving.
I'm just too right brained. :P

What I meant was that the parents aren't going to find the report card less important, but instead be livid with the kid for scaring them like that. :P

Hey i would have to give my kids some credit for it. i dont' know maybe I'm just different but with the way it was delivered in the end. he made his point and I have to respect that. still going to get introuble for not bring up the whole having trouble in school and only found out when the reportcard came out. but other then that. It's not much of a problem with me. i guess i'm more relaxed though. I beleive people are going to do what they are going to do no matter what I say. I'll still say what I have to and will be there to help and guide them but there is no point in beating on them once they went and did something like that. it just woudln't do anything at that point.

But no matter what i'll always love my kids. and be there for them.

Of course it's a good idea to be thankful for what your kids are doing right, but that's not a reason to turn a blind eye to what's wrong because it's not as bad. I know that's not what you're saying, per se, but I do disagree.

I tried that route with my parents, by the way. Say something that scares them, then tell them you were kidding, then tell them the actual bad thing. All it does is make them mad, understandably so.

It's kind of like, "Oh, I only stole the money, but I didn't hurt the storekeeper at all!"

True but as I was saying though. some parents don't want to think their kids would ever do that kind of thing.

you know the types.

"What do you mean my kid put your kid in the hospital he would never do that. billy is the most gental and loving kid in the world" -her kid leaves the house with a bloody baseball bat.

even thought thats an extreame example. some parents just can't see anything but the small picture. whats right infront of them and what they want to beleive. you know the types. the ones that reame the kids [censored] cause he got a b+ and not a perfect A. those are parents I see that need this kind of scare.

LOL.
Clever, but has a 98 percent chance of getting grounded for 9 months and no TV or Games etheir.
That, or a massive family fight.
I kinda doubt it would open their eyes as you can see.

thats true but you also should have known my parents by the time I was 15 I was never home anyways.

when I turned 18 I left for the airforce 12 days later and have never contacted them back.

of course with my history and my family. 1 they wouldn't believe a letter like that. 2. even if they had they wouldn't give to [censored].

My mom works in the kindergarden, my dad is a teacher. You've got NO idea how often I get to hear such stories. There're so many ignorant and blindfolded parents nowadays it's incredible. Well, at least in my region.

And for my part, I basicly agree with Demecas. Of course I'd scold him for messing up in school and such but overally I'd just be like "Nice try, here's my letter *hands letter with chores to do* There ya go. ^^"
