Ah, three weeks of next gen Halo goodness! So far I'm really lovin' the Beta.

The Spartan Laser is a definate favorite, despite its 3 second charge time. That, and the Needler is now a very effective. Yes, that's right; the Needler now owns.

I like that the AR has been re-introduced; I'm seeing less dual-wielding in favor of the Rifle and 'nades. It's also good to know that I'll always have a reliable weapon once the match starts.

So far, so good. I can't wait until the game drops in September. :)

Yeah, less dual-wielding is actually a thing that the develpers were shooting for, if you watch the free video of them making the Halo 3 Multiplayer they stress that fact a few times.

I also like the Needler upgrade, i always loved the weapon, and tried to use it. Now that its got some power packed in it, i use it even more =P

And i can't wait for the full game to be released! If Master Chief owned before, him + the Arbiter are going to rock.

I haven't played too much of the Beta yet though (stupid finals to study for...), what else is new?

I've had it since the 'Friends and Family' beta. And you know what? I f***ing hate it!
Nah, I'm kidding. :P
Loving it so far. The Assault Rifle is proving to be very reliable, especially in conjunction with a well timed melee or a well placed grenade. I've already noticed a decline in dual wielding to only when it's tactically necesary, like in close range defending. Territories seems to be a dual Spike Rifle favourite.
And the Spartan Laser? You have no idea how great it feels when you've just shot someone with it from the opposite end of the map on Valhalla. And it feels even better when you know that the guy you've just reduced to burning atoms was trying to take you out with a Sniper Rifle. Fun times.
And despite what certain people have been saying, the Spike Grenades are increadible. When it explaining it to my friends I call it an 'indoor friendly grenade'. Very effective when someone's giving chase in a building, and especially satisfying when you stick someone in the face with one as they barrel toward you on a Mongoose (true story).
Already got some choice films saved too. :)

tehehe tis a pretty extreme, though I've only played it over at my friends, he got the beta when it was released to some people who were active on the forms =/ anyways rant time...

some bad things

Grenades need to be fixed, they suck at the moment
Assault Rifle needs to be stronger (well I think any way)

yer could be more, such as the turret and such but meh can't be bothered....
some good things =D

I love the water XD, I love the personal grav lifts, I love teh bubble sheilds (though theres a weird glitch that you can't see it =S)

anyways fun for all though they need to fix up most of the weapon damage ah well

I'm assuming you mean the Spike Grenades...? Everyone's complaining about them, it seems.

pfft I'm complaining about all of em nades need to be uber strong, the trip mines good but yer the spike grenades the worst, maybe if they stuck every time you hit someone with it then they would be alright, but no sometimes they just bounce off... ah well

EDIT: I just relised I missed something...

The game needs to be balanced. If all the grenades acted like mini nuclear warheads that blew everone to an early grave, then the game would be unbalanced and unplayable. True story.
Brute Spike grenades are actually more powerful than people give them credit for. For example, I move back to what I call a safe distance from a wall, throw a Spike grenade against it, and watch it blow. 'Suicide!' the announcer calls, followed by many shouts of 'n00b1!' from my so-called teammates.

Thing was dang powerful.

Exactly. Brute Grenades focus the explosion into a cone shape that faces away from whatever the grenade sticks to, much like a shaped charge. Smaller area of effect, but a whole lot more powerful.

IMHO - Grenades are good for the last resort. If you are about to die, toss a grenade and MAYBE you'll get a 'beyond the grave' kill.

And what I don't like is that so many people are complaining about the Beta's graphics.

It's high-definition, which, as bungie said in one of their movies, "High-def is a very unforgiving environment."

So let's forgive them.

Plus it's a beta. And having played a large game of Halo 2 today with some friends, I can tell you that people who are saying the beta looks only marginally better than Halo 2, graphics wise, are kidding themselves. It looks worlds better. I play both in HD, and going back to Halo 2 after many games on the beta felt grimy and perverse. Halo 3 is lovely and shiny and colourful. And better, if I may be so precognitively bold.

Yeah, I went to play Halo 2 the other day and I was like, "Why am I even here?" So I shut it down and went to play a different game, then seconds later, came back to play Beta.

Yeah, Beta has awesome graphics, and yes, those who say they are bad are kidding themselves.

I also get the feeling these aren't the real graphics, just demo graphics. If you look closely at the visors on the helmet, there's no real-time reflection. So I do assume that these are demo graphics, if anything.

Yeah. And anyone notice that the Banshees are back in Valhalla? Ohh, they look shiny - and they fire that cool plasma mortar, as well. I swear, Halo 3 is getting more and more like Combat Evolved in content with each new release. Even the new Pistol (M6G I believe it's proper name is) is supposed to have the smart scope back on it.
Although I severely doubt it's the end-all weapon we love to hate from Halo 1. ;)
Pity it isn't in the beta.
