After the break we have a video of Jack Thompson responding to IGDA Director Jason Della Rocca's quote about him being a "massacre chaser." Particularly choice moments are when Thompson calls Della Rocca an "idiot" and "jackass" on national television. The anchor concludes the piece, "Clearly on a campaign, we appreciate your sharing, attorney Jack Thompson."

Something worth thinking about as this Thompson "jacklash" continues, we sorta passed over a major event this week: Thompson can't mess with Take Two anymore. This was part of a settlement reached between Take Two and Thompson following a string of lawsuits going back to the Bully case. GamePolitics has the terms of the settlement in a handy PDF download. The big question is if Thompson can't go after Take Two's GTA IV or Manhunt 2, the VT Massacre angle isn't quite going his way, then what is there left to go after? Any violent game Thompson could decide to take on would probably pale in comparison to the carnage in either GTA IV or Manhunt, which he legally can't attack anymore.

So, take a deep cleansing breath and ponder: Without the ability to go after Take Two anymore -- what can Thompson do?

I'm just plain sick of him.
It sounds to me like he's doing this to create the illusion of usefulness, since he's obviously not smart enough to take on REAL cases.

Ignore him until the day he dies.

What a [censored] fool. Yes I'm flaming Him and if you have a problem with it too bad.

Video games do not brainwash us into doing things like this. So what if they trained on it. Take away video games and they will go to paint ball to train or laser tag. or Nerf guns.

People like this are going to do it No matter what.

So lets do this. Lets get rid of all lawyers. Since there are corrupt and greedy lawyers we should just get rid of them all together.

I bet he would be up in arms at that comment but thats what he is saying about video games.

That sounds like a beautiful dream I had the other night...
But yeah that guy just needs to go, don't care where, just so long as I don't have to hear his garbage anymore. Does sound like more folks are seeing how absurd his claims are which makes my day, wonder what he'll blame on video games next.

*Just had an idea* They need to start printing Jack Thompson quotes on toilet paper...I'd pay extra for it  .

Dear Jack Thompson,

Appearantly you seem to have a problem with videogames as they are "too violent". Well thats suprising considering how many people play videogames and have not gone on murderous rampages. Blaming Video games for violence is as stupid as blaming the weapons themselves, or mental Illness as many mentally ill people do not go on rampages. The only thing that can be blamed is the killer for HIS actions.

Video games is but a form of media, Books can be awfully violent. Edgar Allen poe Wrote about people being trapped behind walls and Pendulams with scythes on them to kill people, or novels about murders. Yet I don't see people going on a Rampage after reading Agatha Christie. Movies? I have yet to see anyone chopping up someone else after seeing 300.

Yet as book, movies and Television have been around longer you happen to call us Gamers, Murders when we have committed no crime? F*** you Jack Thompson, I own guns and I have not killed a human being and I hope never to.

Oh and Just before I forget, STFU to all the politicans who think like Jack thompson.

If violent video games made me go on a insane massacre.

I would get a plane to the USA and kill Jack "[censored]" Thompson...

And then i'll work up from there...

I think the theory he's acting under the assumption that acting the stuff out causes the violence. The flaw in his reasoning is that people think differantly when playacting.
An example is how people say they could have handled the VT killer had someone had a gun. Theoretically, someone could move fast enough for possibilety, but they forget the surprize.

Why must you constantly drag in unrelated issues for the sake of starting debate?

even if he was right about video games creating a generation of killers it makes him more of a [censored]. come on if their really was a whole generation of killers i dont think its a good idea to mess with them.
