I dunno, all I got out of that was that the Keidran believe in cremation. "You delay their return to the earth," could mean that you prevent their body from decaying and returning to the ground. Generally 'earth' is dirt and 'Earth' is the place. And I was under the impression that this world was most certainly not "Earth." But maybe that's just me and my personal opinions.

Now for me, I noted that Natani's robes evidently let her get past the foot binding nudity rule. Is this like a Scotsman getting away "with nothing more than God had graced him with upon his birth" (as the song goes) under the kilt?

Come on, Natani! Shaun of the Dead taught us everything is better with zombies! :P

And also -- Why do I have second and it's been a half hour since the first post? Is everyone asleep today?

If you look in the archives, you'd notice that Flora didn't cover her toes.

I wonder what type of burial customs Basitin hold. In Judaism, you bury the deceased as soon as possible (as soon as the cleaning of the body is complete) with the body in special burial clothing, wrapped in a burial sheet and the person's tallit w/ a corner removed (the tallit has tzitzit on the corners). In Israel, it is traditional to use a thick sheet and bury the deceased w/o a coffin. Outside of Israel, soil from Israel is sprinkled on the body. In addition, most American Jews are from the tradition which has adopted the use of a simple wooden coffin, basicly a box. Any more than that is considered flamboyant.

LOL av apparently everyone is studying hard or something

Oh again I apologize, HI all ^^

So I wonder if the whole consol him for his parent’s death idea would work... it might because Natani is very very good at being shy and this might lead to a kiss ... (hum a kiss in front of his parents graves... O_o)

Anyway *blushes for the above statement* Keith certainly wowed her in the last panel about how he learned her wolfen style moves ^^ she seemed to like it *imitates Natani's tail wag* woof she is soo cute! Especially now that she seems to be acting kind of 'brave' like she isn’t scared of the dead ... hum maybe it has to do with the idea that her parents are dead too so that may affect her in some way

And about what you and she said about the whole 'return to the earth' thing ... *thinks* ummm well some cultures believe that its sorta a repayment of some sort ... for instance when we 'return to the earth' or in other words we decay and become soil basically we help nurture the earths soil and fill it with our bodies natural nutrients ^^ so maybe she was referring to that but I cant be sure.

Oh and also ... COOL I was fourth to post ^^ C'MON get posting guys! heheh

Thanks for listening to me rant about culture, Belzeber
(walks to the next thread)

Eh sorry Av was finishing a paper, just caught it now though. Anyways it looks like Natani is going to have to get used to others customs, I've actually dealt with that same situation within my family, half believes in cremation the other half believes in burial. I'm interested to see if she has any further problems in the graveyard, though I'm sure she can put her beliefs aside for the moment.

Aha, I knew it, Keith angst lay at the end of that trail somewhere, and I am ever-so-pleased by the fact.

I really don't think this is going to lead to a huge comfort/romance deal between Keith and Natani. NEITHER of them is anywhere NEAR ready for that, on their own or with each other. It would be a kind of cheap plot device, unless it somehow manages to get backed up really well.

Interesting culture difference...I love the bits and pieces that Tom slides in here about all of that. I can definitely see how graveyards would be creepy to someone who's never experienced one before.

seems to me that Natani watches too many zombie movies :D

"rows of dead bodies lined up underground"

she seemed more scared than disgusted or angry lol.

Next time on 2kinds.com: "The Keidren who Jumps at Shadows," or "Night of the Living Dead Basitins." Muahahahaha!

Also, Natani's boobs are poking out a bit. Does this look like 'man boobs' or like a disguised female?

umm.. I think the point here is another.

Imagine if you, as a human, would meet a race who simply neatly places corpse beside corpse in bright daylight (maybe with a white cloth draped over them) letting them rot, and actually goes there to honour them.

Totally scary and sick, right?
But not for them.

And the same situation is what Natani probably feels like right then.
They hardly see dead people, and the only thing remaining of them is usually ashes, so thinking that there are lots of dead bodies arranged at one place creeps her out.

I mean, most people are creeped out by Mortuaries... at least when the drawers with the dead are open.

By the way... ever wondered about Natani's different eyecolours? Was she born like that, or is the grey one supposed to blind/impaired? Somehow damaged through a fight?

Returning one's soul to the Earth is a long process, you can't simply burn it and hope the soul goes in the right direction (trust me, my sister is a Sakura-tribe Shaman). You must give it a route, a direction. That is why each tribe does not bury or burn their dead like you humans, akki, or ogres, but instead we plant them with a local sapling so that they may either find their way back to the soil, or rise to join the heavens.

But it'd be fun if a Basitin prankster popped out of a grave to give Nat a heart attack and then Kieth is there looking all cool and stuff.

Words bathed in truth, Av.

I'd hope that Natani is just uncomfortable around the dead and its not a clash of beliefs [That usually kills good relationships].

Well this answears the question of where Keith was going, wonder if there will be a big stone or something small..., and weither or not Keith breaks down.

All thats left is to introduce Natani to a zombie, and let the fur fly
