This role-play is based in a world with Anthros, Humans, and Half-Breeds. What follows is the world’s history, a description of each race and how they see the other races. It is long and detailed, but if you want to join please read it all. Also I want to limit this to no more than 10 people. The focus of this is not combat, but hey there's gonna be some fightin! Good luck. You're gonna need it.

The world of Katima has two dominant species. The Humans and the Anthros have lived in competition since they both existed. As time passed, they warred and made peace at various times. Whether for land, religion, or supplies the two races have fought for control both on the field of battle and in the diplomatic game. Once muskets and fire arms were invented, this on and off war intensified as both side rushed for supplies. This began the Long War. During this time there were two major conflicts, though preceding them smaller battles and skirmishes were fought.
About 200 years ago there was a Great War. The Human took advantage of their new weapon, the tank, and attacked the Anthros. In the initial stages of the fighting, the Humans made great gains, but the lines stabilized within weeks and a trench war began. The Anthros were physically stronger, but the human’s better weapons and armor helped balance the war.
In the end, the Treaty of Khariff gave the Humans the land they had conquered, but rules were established governing the size of each respective race’s armies, and trade agreements were passed. A historic moment occurred when Human ambassador Thomas Drake declared “There would be peace in this time.” Yet this was no to be.
Less then fifty years later, increasing pressure grew on the governments. Even though they had both agreed to limit their armies and weapons stockpiles, a covert arms race began. Times went well for both sides. A spike in interracial marriage and children occurred. These people had existed and lived for centuries, but they had little to do involving the affairs of the world. They had not fought especially hard for one side or the other, nor had they abandoned the Great War.
Today, it is still unsure exactly how it happened, but the Second War began. Both sides claim the other started it, but the truth is unknown. This technology was fought with bigger tanks, better planes, and even more efficient guns. This time, the Anthros had the advantage. They were not limited by their lack of technology and physically, they still beat their Human counterparts. This was, the Second War, changed Katima forever. Though it was much more mobile and land was captured and lost by the mile, it seemed to drag on for its five years. Men, Anthros, and machines were poured into the fighting. The end result was loss for Humanity. With one exception their capitals lay in ruins, their armies defeated, and the civilians exhausted of this bloodbath.
One city-state, Thyrmopolae, resisted. They brokered peace, though it was bittersweet. The Anthros gained mastery over Humanity. All Humans not in Thyrmopolae were enslaved to the Anthro populace. The Governor sold out his race to save his citizens. Though most of the enslaved despised him, they followed his edict. Better, they though, to live on their knees then die on them. Thus, the Long War ended.
One hundred years later, the Thyrmopolae fell. A Half-Breed betrayed the city-state and its puppet government was replaced with a full Anthro one. AS a result a massive attempted uprising occurred, but the salves were quickly and brutally put down. Over a period of seventy years we have arrived at this date.
Because there was no longer a need for weapons, the weapons technology is extremely similar to what we have in the real world. In fact, the same companies exist there, creating the same weapons. However, their tracking technology is much greater and all Human salves are implanted with a sub-dermal tracking chip. The Anthro police forces are well trained and are almost an army in their own right. Tazers, stun batons, and shock collars are all common items used to deal with criminals.
Even though few escape, there is a small free Human populace that lives in the slums and sewers of major cities. Their life is pitiful and harsh, yet they are determined no only to survive, but retake the world. The Slaves’ live vary, some serve harsh master who care not for their property, while others would willingly die to defend their master. The Anthros live a life like we do, only every family has at least one slave. The Half-Breeds though live a difficult life. They are recognized by the Anthro Government, but it is difficult to find acceptance by either race. Humans generally look on them as elevated by luck of their parentage. Anthros typically see them indifferently. Despite his they have endured and continue to exist despite their status as near outcasts.

Next is a description of each race followed by an in-game type of description of their relations with other races.

Humans - Human appearances vary widely. Skin tones from near black to near translucence exist, eye and hair run the gamut as well. Typically Human males are about 5’11” and females are typically 5’7”. While Humans are neither exceptionally strong nor fast, they are usually more innovative and quick witted than the average Anthro. They live to be about 70 years old.

Tori, a Free Human has this to say about the other races on Katima:

Anthros: They can’t stay on top forever. We got the underground, we got surprise. And when then time comes, we’ll take back what we’re due.

Half-Breeds: These guys gotta be watched. They betrayed us before and they’ll do it again.

Humans have little in the way of technology. Their weapons are either close combat weapons or improvised. There is an increasing number carrying police type firearms taken from their hits. Their “government” is most accurately described as roving gangs. They can and have fought each other before, but most of this infighting is kept to a minimum.

Anthros – Anthros are animal humanoids (basically a Keidran). Just about every land animal has an Anthro to match. Typically predators are the most common, but other species do exist. The average height depends on the species of Anthro. For example a male Tiger Anthro is about 7’1” tall and female Tiger Anthros are about 6’6” tall. Wolf and dog type male Anthros are about 5’9” and females are about 5’9” as well. Other cat types, excluding big hunting cats, average about 5’7” for both genders. All Anthros are at least slightly strong and faster than an average human, and though they are not as intelligent as Humans, they are by no means stupid. They live to be around 65 or so years.

Seath, a wolf Anthro, describes his so called peers:

Humans: When their obedient, they can be useful. But when they get free they only cause problems. Last week they gunned down a Patrol Unit! They need our guidance to evolve any further.

Half-Breeds: I guess they’re all right. They don’t really do much so I can’t say. They are not quite as noble as us, yet they are better than the Humans for sure.

Depending on their job an Anthro might have access to a Patrol (their police force) armory, or they might rely on the shock collar they have for their slave to keep them in line.

Half-Breeds – This race is unique as an average is almost impossible to determine. Depending on the Human and the Anthro, a Half-Breed could be a fur-covered intelligent worker, or a dim witted cat eared servant. Usually they are marginally faster and/or stronger than a Human and are somewhat more intelligent that an Anthro. This comes at a price though, as they typically have shorter life spans, about 45-50 years, then Humans or Anthros.

Nikki, a Half-Fox, explains her views on the other races of Katima:

Humans: As long as they leave me alone, I couldn’t care less. I feel a bit bad for them, seeing how some of their masters treat them, but I can’t do anything.

Anthros: They look down on us, but it’s not too bad. Sure it’s hard to move ahead, but that which doesn’t kill us makes us stronger.

Half-Breeds have a carefully controlled access to weaponry. Excluding that, they can use most other technology that any other Anthro would use.

OOC: You probably needn't have included the descriptions of the races.

Marcus White waited on the sidewalk, his eyes staring blankly at a spot on the ground about six feet in front of him. His shoulders sagged low, and everything about his demeanor said 'servile.' The sky above was rather dreary, and it was obvious to all who cared to notice that the cat Anthro standing next to the human slave wanted least of all to be hanging about outside. As they waited, a light rain began to send intermittent drops of warm water splashing down, and pedestrians caught without the proper clothing hurried to flee the exposure of the streets that promised to permit the drenching of any who remained for the storm to follow.

Marcus looked to his left surreptitiously to see the cat Anthros' expression, and sure enough its agitation was beginning to show. Marcus had to suppress a smirk. So much for tough overlords... can't even stand a little rain. Unfortunately for both of them, the Anthro needed to remain to complete the transaction. Marcus was to be picked up by his new master, a Mr. Callahoun. Marcus' mind began to wander as he pondered what his next master would be like.

It was this inattention that led to him being harshly shoved aside as a group of Anthros came in off the stone road. Marcus could see that several of them carried the limp forms of other humans, some of which displayed bloody smears from injuries unseen. Marcus was fully aware of the commonness of this scene. An Anthro had been angered by something, a slave had accidentally slipped up, the reasons varied, but the results were usually the same. Bloody, unconscious messes that had to be hauled into the human care center where they could be patched up for cheap. Marcus did his best to keep his eyes forward, not glancing over at the group more than a couple times.

As the rain picked up in intensity, the two could only hope that Mr. Callahoun’s arrival was imminent.

OCC: Quite possibly. I just wanted to.

Chrome looked into the register, as usual there wasn't a lot in there. Enough for some food and pay the rent. Lucky for him, it wasn't rent day, and he had bought groceries for a week yesterday. He should be able to go home without worries tonight. He took the money out of the register and put it into his little safe under the loose floorboard. He stuck the nails back in and stood up. He took a look outside to see a downpour. He complained in his mind that it'll take almost a half hour to get his fur dry. He didn't have enough money to buy a decent rain coat, but sufficed with a hooded sweatshirt. He put up his hood and went out the door, taking a new novel with him. He tucked it into his pocket and locked the door. On his way to his apartment he saw a fellow anthro beating his human slave. He shook his head in disgust saying

"So uncivilized. You'd think scolding would be enough." Being the owner of the only shop in the entire city that exepted humans to come without a note of confidence from their master. If they came out of their own will, such as they snuck out, he didn't turn them in. As long as they had the money to pay for what they wanted, they were just another customer. He could care less if the humans were slaves or not. As such, he didn't own his own slave, nor did he have the money to afford one. Because of his policy, he was generally disrespected, but treated well enough that people still accepted him. He walked past a group of Anthros, they had a human with them. This was apparently a slave deal. One of the Anthros was a cat. He looked at the human. He stood there for a good five minutes, flicking his tail a few times before going on his way.

Desmond Silas' so called house was hot. The fire burning in the middle of the room seemed like an open furnace. It basically was. He carefuly stuck a segment of old lead pipe into the furious flames. It turned bright red and began to drip into the makeshift cement mold.

Desmond could hear the rain water dripping into the sewer just a few feet away. His little underground shed protected him fairly well, but every now and then a drip would come through in the corners. After six bullet heads were completed, about two hours later, Desmond poured rank sewer water over the coals and tossed it into the pipes to his left. They hissed and bubbled as the drifted down the massive sewer pipe, or "Main Street" as the free humans called it.

Life was hard. Making ammo out of garbage, eating, and going to the bathroom. That was the general life of Desmond. A stack of old lipstick containers sat on a wire coiler. He put them in a soggy old cardboard box along with various pieces of lead piping, the odd useful thing from the dump. His favorite thing was a 40mm shell he had found a few days earlier. Finding or making powder was his main problem when it came to ammo.

'It's amazing what those anthros will throw away. They're asking for us to kill them with this sort of thing'. He could hear his father snoring in the hay in the corner, and rolled his eyes. 'What I wouldn't give for a second room'.

Lohti walked down the street, looking gloomy in the rain. Sadly, he had not taken his umbrella, and would take a good hour to get his fur dry again. But he continued walking in the rain, not in the least slowing his pace but not running from the rain, or want to leave it. He approached the ditatched human.

"Marcus White?" he said, addressing the human after paying the hospital clerk and filling out the paperwork.

Marcus looked at up at the Anthro addressing him, but before he could say anything, the cat Anthro from the hospital standing next to him spoke up. "Alright, you've paid and signed, all that's left is to change the info on his tracking chip." With that, the Anthro waved a small hand-held device over Marcus' arm and an intense purple light shot out of it, illuminating bright green numbers that originated from under his skin. That done, the Anthro turned to Lohti and said, "Okay, his chip now says he's yours. Feel free to leave." Having concluded their business, the cat Anthro turned and fled to the haven of the hospital.

Marcus bowed low to his new master, his arms flat against his sides. "I am ready to serve, master," he said, his voice flat and emotionless.

Gah, thjis is gonna be harder than I thought, he seems used to the slave life... Lohti thought, looking down at his new slave.

"Ok then, follow me." he said, turning around and walking back to where his house would be, after a while. He had shopped yesterday for groceries, so he had nothing else to do today in town, and he wasn't eager to stay in the rain.

"So, what should I call you? Marcus fine?" he said, looking sidelong at him.

Marcus started at a brisk pace to keep up with the taller Anthro. He made sure to stay close, so as not to become seperated and thus a punching bag (or worse... target practice) for the police.

"Yes, master, perfectly fine." He replied, looking about warily for signs of shadowy figures and dark eyes watching for stray humans.

"Good, there's one thing out of the way... here we are." He said, approaching his aprartment complex and letting himself in with Marcus, he addressed him again.

"Wait here, I will go tell the receptionist that you will be staying with me." With that he crossed the lobby to the desk and began talking to the woman behind it.

Desmond looked at his broken wrist watch. The second and minute hand were both stubs, but he could get a general idea of the time, if the battery worked. For Desmond, it was always 9:17 AM. He just wore it because it made him seem more powerful than he really was, in his odd logic.

"Dad, it's 9:17, I'm going to check out any activity," Desmond said as he woke his father.

"Whuh? It's always 9 *yawn* 17. Let an old man sleep" said Desmond's father.

"You always say that," Desmond was also a little crazy at times, but mostly to joke around with his father. He picked up his M1, twelve bullets, and head out. He carefuly loaded one cartridge of six shots, and head for the place where the storm drain merges with the sewer. Water was gushing out, Desmond still climbed through. He knew these pipes better than the back of his hand. He looked through a grate, and seeing no one was there, he popped open the circular cover five feet down and popped his head out.

He saw a human standing around, looking for something. His master had just entered an apartment, and was talking to someone, but he couldn't really see him very well.

Marcus paused by the door, certain he could almost feel the eyes staring at him. He casually turned and looked out the door, scanning the street. It was dark however, and the rain was creating a mist when it hit the ground, so he failed to notice anything out of the ordinary. Pushing the feeling out of his mind, he closed the door behind him.

As Marcus looked around, he noticed that the building was very nicely created, with sculptures placed strategically to lend the structure an austere air. The atmosphere reminded Marcus of the nicer parts of his first master's mansion, and with that thought came a flood of bad memories. Marcus blinked his eyes and tried to forget. At that moment, the door behind him burst open, and a couple of Anthros entered the building, obviously seeking to get out of the rain. They glared at human as he picked himself up off the floor, and Marcus wasn't happy with the way they looked at him. He shuffled closer to his new master. He didn't want to disobey the orders he was given, but he even more didn't want to lose his face.

"I'm terribly sorry about that," he said placatingly. He held up his hands in front of him as he slowly backed away. "I-I did-didn't expect..."

Desmond saw the Anthros looking at the other human with that look. He picked up his gun and aimed, just in case anything broke out between them. He wished he could say 'move and I'll shoot', but that'd give his position away.

'They go after him, I shoot, and slip down this like a big slide,' though Desmond, pleased at his plan.

"What are you two looking at? He's my property. On your way." Lohti said darkly at the two anthros who were staring at Marcus. He retreived his key and told Marcus to follow him as he walked to the elevator, to take it to the third floor, which is where his apartment was.

(OOC: Gah, must edit. Posting same time)

I don't think this is what was in mind... I jumped over a fence, but landed wrong and rolled with it. I winced as my shoulder was ternderized by the concrete. Behind me were, I don't know, alot of Patrol members. All I did was try to buy some food!

I called out to them, "Hey muchachos! You like this? You want some more?" I kept running, trying to stick to the back alleys. The rain would slow their pursuit. As I ran I remembered the last conversation I had before going on Stand Down status.

The cell leader looked at me and told me that I was to "avoid missions for a while". He wanted to give the Patrol time to calm down after the last raid. I was assigned to non-combat/non-interaction duty. Hopefully the Patrol would forget about me.

I guess not. I was about to turn down an alley way when I saw it was walled off. "Porque mi Dios? Why can't you cut me some slack?" I had to keep running and I ran right into the main streets. I neatly dodged an Anthro and kept running. When I get somewhere safe... three cuts outta serve to remind me to stay low. I didn't know where I was, but I was heading toward the less crappy part of town. Here midclass apartments and duplex housing reigned. I also noticed more Humans giving me looks that said, "This guy is gonna get it." The Anthros also got bolder, stepping in my way, trying to trip me. I tried the only trick I could use now. "Move, my master's gonna beat me!" I called. I had to find somewhere to turn around in. As luck would have it, an apartment complex was nearby.

I jogged in the door. I stood, as patiently as I could waiting behind an anthro group and a human slave and his master. Please mi Dios, let this work. At the same time I tensed, worried that someone would start something. I'm not so good at NOT fighting.

((are you guys reading the previous posts? now we have four different interactions for the same situation, in which none of them mentions any of the others. And I've already brought him away from the lobby, if he's following.))
