GM: Its been several weeks the Mercinary World of outreach. You were contraced by the Leftanant General Harman Kruger, who also happens to be another nobel competing for control for the world, to be the OpFor unit for the militia simulating pirates as well as bandits and he will pay the unit additional money for extra assignments he may have for you.

The Jumpship Carring you, the Merchant ship Fortune Has jumped into planetary system and has begun traveling towards New india. it will be two days until the Jump ship Enters orbit of New India where you will work for your 10,000,000 C-bill (plus 100,000 C-bills per month for unit upkeep) contract.

------------------------------------------------------

Chris closed his eyes and shook his head clearing the blur from when they passed through Hyperspace thirty Light years into the New india system. Unbuckeling his belt he floated out of his bunk and towards the mech bay to check on his Flashman Which was being looked at by the techs Colonel Zanaris Hired.

Chris Floated by the doors of the Other Mechwarriors and Tankers of this... Unconventional unit, but its was better than enduring another day of dealing with incompetant Lyran officers.

Colonel Clazon Zanaris-- Templar-- floated with one arm hanging on a handle, watching the techs work on the Tyrant. He pushed off to leave for his quarters, hoping to gain a little more insight to the terrain he was to be carrying the mission out in. The breifing wasn't until later, but there wasn't such a thing as being too prepared.

OOC: Let me know if this is ok.

As soon as Liao could, he was out of his safety harness and back to his work. His portable computer had continued running its calculations, even though he had been forced to pause his monitoring of it momentarily. When he opened the device though, he realized that the computer had come up with a solution. Liao smiled big, and then pushed himself over to the door.

Once in the hallway, he kicked his way down the corridor in an attempt to get back to his 'mech as quickly as possible. As he did so, his eyes scanned the lines of code and images being displayed on the screen, and he chuckled to himself softly. This could just work...

Because of his distraction, he failed to notice the other occupant of the hallway, and his course sent him careening right into the other man's back. The collision caused him to slow down and change directions, and he ended up running into the wall. Distractedly, Liao spoke to the person he had hit, but he did so without tearing his gaze away from the computer. If he had looked up, he would have realized that he had run into Chris, the owner of the Flashman he had been admiring earlier.

"Sorry about that, I failed to notice you..." His voice trailed off as he noticed an error in the computer's simulation. "Uh, no, that won't work," he thought aloud.

Chris rotated his left arm in a circle to work out where he slammed into the wall While holding onto one of the dropships handle bars that ran though the corridor. "No problem. I should have been more alert, then neither of us would have bumped into each other.....um, what won't work?" He said his face looked puzzled.

Liao looked up at Chris with a guilty expression on his face. "Huh?" he asked, momentarily perplexed. Liao's mouth moved to form inaudible words spoken to himself, and his eyes looked to the top left corner, a habit he had when trying to remember something, or thinking really hard.

"Oh, sorry." Liao shook his head and turned to fully face Chris. "It's just this laser frequency modulator I've been working on." Liao began an in-depth explanation about how 'mechs employed specialized armor to absorb the energy of laser weapons so as to decrease the damage received. He then further explained how, if one could determine the fundamental frequency of the armor's quantum state, one could, theoretically, utilize a laser tuned to the same amplitude, but opposite polarity of the armor's frequency. It would, in effect, allow the laser to bypass any defenses a 'mech might have.

"Isn't that amazing? Unfortunately, the problem lies in collecting the data from the other 'mech. If the frequency of the armor's quantum state isn't measure with extreme precision, the laser can't be tuned fine enough to improve it at all." Liao finally paused to take a breath before continuing. "If I can figure out a way to use a series of targeting lasers to determine the quantum states... but the simulation just keeps botching up!"

Liao stopped talking and starting typing away at his computer, mumbling to himself as he did. It seemed for the moment he had forgotten what he was doing.

Clazon floated down the corridor, and offhand heard two people talking about something 'botching up.' He paid little attention, and soon found himself in his quarters, and grabbed his wrist planner, so that he may peruse what maps of the area he had downloaded.

"I heard of Glazed armor over when I was on New Avalon, but they said stuff like it won't be avabaiable for twenty years or so. But that concept... Is it even possible? Can you cancel a laser out, do we even have the capability?" Chris was intrested in this stuff from the time he spent in NAIS (New Avalon Insitute of Science) and the things he learned about that the Star League had like the Polarized light sheild that can cloak a mech and make it invisible, seemed to be toys to this.

"What?" Liao looked back at Chris, and then started laughing. He quickly stopped when he realized that that could be considered rude. "No, I'm not talking about canceling out lasers, I'm talking about canceling out armor! Think about it... A 'mech that can fire lasers that cut the enemy to ribbons, slicing through the opposition's armor like... well... like something that slices really... well." Liao stopped to try and put his thoughts together.

"Ok, look at it this way. When a normal laser hits a 'mech, it impacts on the armor, and transfers energy. If enough energy is transferred, the armor is damaged, and eventually it's melted all the way through. This process could take several hits from multiple lasers, and that takes time. Well, imagine a laser that hits a 'mech, and then just goes right through the armor, to hit the stuff underneath! You could shoot a 'mech in the leg with this laser, and instead of being stopped, it would fry the leg's actuators! That's the kind of power I'm talking about."

Liao looked back at his computer and shook his head. He took a deep breath and sighed before looking back at Chris. "I just can't figure out a way to get the quantum state of the enemy's armor figured out from a distance and accurately enough to use the data." His eyes suddenly darted around the room, as though tracking bits of code only he could see. "Hmmm, what if I tried it with a multiple targeting laser lock? First one just enough power to spark the surface, second and third on monitoring, and couple the results for better accuracy. Could work..."

Liao began typing again.

Until the breifing began, Clazon had nothing to do but watch the progress on his 'mech as well as peruse the maps... which he could do both at the same time. So he once again left his quarters, floating back to the hanger, once again passing the two rather talkative people in the hall. He stated "Guten Tag" in his turbulous bass voice, as he floated on, not really caring if they understood.

Chris was looking at what Liao was doing when he heard a phrase that he reccongized from being in the Lyran portion of the Commonwealth. He looked up and realized it wa the CO. Oh, Shoot He quickly thought and Nudged Liao and motioned to the Colonel. He then Saluted the Colonel "Morning, sir".

Clazon was moving away from them before they could salute, too lost in his own thoughts to pay much attention. He wasn't realling thinking about much in particular, but two voices played through his head, like a recorder stuck on play.

Templar, we are relying on you to...
One has gone missing, assumed.....

he shook his head abstractedly and realized he had reached the hangar. He resumed his watchpost and thumbed through his index while watching the techs handle his 'mech.

Amarillis moves out onto the corridor but he seems to be clinging to the walls of it. "How are you guys doing fells?" he seems to be use to this and his front and back paws to grab a hold of something hard so not to destroy anything. "You guys like floating around?" I little bit of a smile on his face.

"Me, I can't wait to feel dirt underneath my feet. I never under stood now the guys in the Archon Prince's Yacht club do this sorta thing for a living?" He shrugged his shoulders after using the army term for the Federated Commonwealth Navy. "You look like you really hate this".

"I can tolerate it, but I'm no Spaceman. I leave that to the Acrobats that are physics majors." As Chris saw the fox move towards the hanger He half turned to Liao. "Well, shall we?" and holding the bar Chris pushed against thew wall to send himself sailing down the corridor towards the Hanger bay. Chris wanted to see what the techs were doing to his Flashman.
