i wonder why nobody else got here first well anyways its out now. i got a really bad feeling about the strictness of the city. or that can be a feeling about all those cliches of strict cities and getting in trouble for doing something they didnt know was wrong.

Poor group of ours. Outsiders, forsaken! Alas.

And back to the serious storyline. Very strict. Keith is defensive about his home though.

Wow... that's kind of creepy. That is one controlling government-- reminds me of that eerie chapter from A Wrinkle in Time.
I too suspect the crew will be getting into some sort of trouble later if not sooner. The law just screams it out.

And with this revelation comes the explanation of the source for the disdain held by the Basitins in regard to the Keidrans, due to their common instances of sexual relations.

If female and male only meet one week by year, I find strange that the parent concept survived. I mean the concept of marriage seem impractical in this situation and I see the idea to raise all children together without care who give birth to him (like orphans) as cool and efficient.

Anyway, this imply that Keith's parent get killed during this week because the killer couldn't have murdered both as easily since they don't live on the same since of the wall (who is probably heavily guarded to enforce the law.).

That explains the pregnant woman in the first glimpse of the Basitin village.

It's not that horrible, and it does sound efficient... maybe I'm sucking up or biased. Or I'm a technical person.

Must be one hell of a party though.

I like the Basitin way of thinking, efficiency and organization, but yeah, letting it control people's sex life (is that a word?) is a bit... strict.

How is it possible for them to show that much within the first week? How?

um, I don't see where your coming to the conclusion that this is only a week later, I read they have one week to party, not that it was last week?

And Keith WANTS to go back into this kind of society :??
