Well, as a huge FF fan, I own (or have played) all the FF's available in America, and the best one has to be VII. Yeah, get over it. It has the best gameplay, the longest gameplay (over 300 hours, yeah), and a great storyline. Took me a while to beat, best $20 I ever spent.

FF 7 is the best hands down, it had the best storyline in the whole set.

who cares if the graphics aren't next gen, story is the important part or you might as well be playing pong virtual reality.

they can't beat the shock value and the great backstory in that game, all they can do is copy it or try to work around a new set of characters with a different view of it.

for you ppl that haven't play'd FF10 here is a spoiler alert...

I admit that i was kinda shocked at the end of FF 10 to learn the main character was just a dream, but it was corny more than good story.

Yeah, if you can't find a copy of 7 anywhere, just borrow it from one of your friends, you can't afford not to play this game.

Dude, guy, you must not've played FFX2, because in one of the endings, not the basic ending, not the perfect ending which I haven't seen, but you know, the good ending, he's reunited with yuna. Seriously. It's actually where he went after teh end of FFX. My little bro played the ending of FFX2 like a dozen times, he liked the trash so much.

he is still a dream he just escaped into the place in zanerkand that had been formed when they destroyed jecht. thats why he wasn't with them after the final battle and threw all of the FF X-2 til the end. Yuna actually had to find him.

First of all i have to go with FF3 for the supernintendo which was really FF6 at the time. it had a boss that you really hated. And i mean you hated him with a passion. They killed off the magicite. Detroyed the world and reshaped it. It's possable that that world became the world in FF7 as some have said. I don't know. 2 things missing 1 the ghost train. see that would have been fun to revisit in ff7. Second the Serpent Road. I mean it was in every single FF up to FF7 then it just isn't there anymore. I mean come on. it was like the one thing you could count on to be there. Kinda looked forward to it too. But in FF6 you could lose party members if you didn't do things. each person had a very detailed background and story you had deal with. and was a long long [censored] game.

FF7 i will have to admit had a good story line but it seamed to be incomplete. first of all there were items for Arise that you couldn't get til after she died? I mean come on. What was the point. Then you had some points where the storyline felt like it was shortened and pushed. Some of the charatures also just felt like they were put in to be fillers for the party with no real reason to be there. Yuffie for one. While she was one of my favorate chars. it seamed more like they forced a reason for her to be there then really gave one. then that stupid cat thing that i never faught with. That thing just horable. I wanted to rip its stuffing out. Then Vincent. cool as he was. and his storyline was a bit more detailed. but he really didn't fit into the story that well. Tiffa barret and cloud and arise felt right.

FF7 was released around the same time anouther game came out. One that should have done much better then it did and was made by the same people. why they released them around each other like that I don't know. XenoGears. A game that until recetly hasn't been given the credit it deserves. A great story line that only felt pushed a few times and all the chars felt like they belonged. great plot twists too. of course the first major weakness in the game was the start of the second disk. for about 2 hours you were forced on what you did and where you went. And yes for you people who are asking does Xenogears have anything to do with Xenosaga. Yes it does. Xenogears while made before Xenosaga happens after it. and is still better then Xenosaga ever was.

Back to FF7. i will give it credit though. even with all the bad stuff I've said about it. That was one of the last really good RPG's to be realised. Everything else (exculuding elderscrolls and obivion since they are of a different type of RPG) has been pretty lame with a few exceptions. Suikoden 5, StarOcean til the end of time. still not sure how to rate FF12 thuogh. I'll have to play it a few more times all the way thru.

FF8 Horable. I can't even go into why cause it would take to danm long. Even though i liked the Seed system where you got paid every so often. That was pretty cool.

FF9 it was too easy and was the start of sending the FF series into a linear type Rpg where you had no option were you went and couldn't explore the world until the end. It was also very how would i put it. Childish or aimed more for children then it's true fans.

FF10 Easy as hell. story line predictable. and he wasn't just a dream for he existed at one point way in the past it was more of like a memeory of his existance was traped there or his soul. true they never explain it that well. way to linier.

FF10-2 hell that was so bad. while the costume change with different abuilites was cool and an interesting idea. The storyline was a disaster. First it felt like a rip off of charlies angels. second it felt like they not only rushed the story but added alot of stupid and insainly hard mini games not only to add a challenge the main storyline lacked to give but also to extend the game play cause the story line was so short. I could go on and on about it but I couldn't even stomic it long enough to finish the game until a year after i started it. I had more fun staring at a screen for 8 to 12 hours looking at numbers and data waiting to see something that never happened versus playing that game.

It was already stated by the maker of the FF series that no final fantasy is connected (except for 10 and 10-2) they are all sepereted worlds with no history to share the only thing each have in common are the chobocos. they are the FF trademark.

i didnt' like 2 because the characters really didn't have a history that is to say a rich background that defined the character.
In 7 you find out alot of history for the side characters and reveals some have to do with the actual storyline in progress. as for the aerith items in the game its because after you beat it you can replay the game from the start again with all the items you had when you beat it, thus when you have her again she has the more powerful gear to use. It also had 4 endings and the one showed that Aerith actally was in the stream of life and she was probably the reason that cloud was able to beat sephroth.

Yes, I have a friend who thinks the worlds are related or the games go in a timeline of some sort. I tell him they just have similarities, but he's weird. FF7 had 4 endings? Did you mean 4 diffrent parts? or 4 diffrent endings because it SURE didn't have different endings.
Also...sephroth? SEPHROTH?! What is wrong with you peoples!

I liked 7 the best. First FF game I ever played. 9 was good too.

there are 4 different endings to FF 7 you get different ones based on these criteria:

Ending 1: finish the game normally without escaping a battle or having a character die in under 18 hours of play with all summons acquired.

Ending 2: finish the game normally with a death or escape under 18 hours with all the summons.

Ending 3:finish the game with deaths or escapes under 18 hours without all the summons.

Ending 4:finish the game over 18 hours of play

Aeirth's storyline death does not count only the non story normal battle deaths count.

the best ending is Ending 1
the normal ending is Ending 2
the sad ending is Ending 3
the unfinished story is Ending 4

most people get Ending 4 and then quit thinking its the only ending. RedXIII looking over cosmo canyon was not the only ending lol.
