Hmm, closer look at Basitin culture?

So they look similar to Flora because she is used to different clans - tiger / wolf etc. And it looks like the reception committee isn't exactly warm.

Flora's response seems to me to be like that of a white person first exposed to somewhere like Japan after only knowing one Japanese person.

On the contrary...it looks like they are about to get a very warm reception! Perhaps they'll soon get a taste of Basitin hospitality - from behind bars. Or worse. 8-\ The fact that there are a few wanted criminals (with quite possibly a large reward on their heads) probably isn't going to help matters. :(

If the tech level was a little higher this would probably be a very good time to send someone back to keep the engine running. But, as their means of transportation was a sail-powered boat there really isn't much choice but to face the music.

<starts humming Jaws theme>

Is it a marker of a culture that their in triumvirate of generals, none of them appear to be pleasant? At least it's obvious that they earned their positions -- nobody's that scarred without seeing their share of battles. Which raises the question: who have the Basitins been fighting?

I just find it amusing that Flora automatically associates Keith's name with that of his whole race. It makes for such an absurd conversation. And it really brings out the truth that we all look alike to those outside of our culture.

There are three generals but only with their own guards and poeple around are quite calm. So I don't worry for now.

Aww... Look at the mother and daughter in the third panel, soo cute! She's pregnant

I can't believe I'm commenting on background characters... Is that allowed?

:!: OMG, Eric is showing Kathrin compassion (or w/e word fits better), could he finally be coming around to her ? i hope so

I love Flora's response, "There are Keith's everwhere!"

The General seems less fearful than before, can't say the same for the others (they all look bumed)

Methinks Tom may be quite familiar with that phenomenon ...

Looks like we have the Old Seasoned Mediator General, Big Would-Be-Bald-if-Human General, and Rival of a Major Character General. Woo-hoo! The flawless trichotomy strikes again!

Also, I notice that the only Keiths that have their ears perked up are that guy with the rod in panel 3 and the far back, left guard in panel 6.

Big words 8B  But, recall, the Basitins are a militaristic culture, and few in number to boot. It would only make sense that they would always be ready for a fight. Also, it's just like Native American cultures back in the early days; they would often have the visiting white men escorted by a warrior or so (when we weren't being completely "racially superior" [censored] and killing them and stealing their land :x ).

I also believe in the phrase "if you desire peace, prepare for war," because someone WILL try to disturb your peace and you should be ready to defend it, if necesary.

I think he might be treating to her as if she is old and needs help. And I'm not sure that Kat is all that pleased, looking at how her expression changes.

There is a black cloaked figure in the background (3rd panel). Am I reading to much in to this?

I'm thinking it just might be there to show how ominous approaching a completely foreign society can be.

Maybe the black cloak is a leper or something. Hey! There's a fishing rod in the second panel!
EDIT
I think Tom forgot to coler Kat's mouth in the second panel as well.
