the new fighting system still feels weird for me. when i first started i was running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to avoid damage. then i learned it was okay just to sit down and fight without having to flail about the battlefield.

I still move in combat, looks cooler, gives me something to do, and you know... MP recharge! =D

This final fantasy was a long time comming and has renewed my faith in the series, after a long line of crap (9, 10, 10-2...) They finally gave me what I wanted out of their game; A plot that didn't focus entirely on the love between two characters! It gives me politics, war, big battles, character depth, hard to guess good/bad guys, bad guys against bad guys, character depth! (Am aware I mentioned that twice.) *Hugs FFXII* I <3 you so much.

I don't think it's fair to call the rest of the games crap. They mostly improve along the way so if they didn't exist, there would be no FFXII. And i still love most of the old FF's.

The old games were awesome, IV and VI were two of my favorite video games of all time and still hold that even against new high end games. What I'm saying is the last three have been virtually crap... 9, 10 and 10-2... In my opinion anyways... They had so little plot and had characters that I couldn't possibly connect with (Except Auron.) VIII Started to tip off when the story became a little too focused around love... Nine sucked because they had alexander, one of the traditional medeocre summons beat Bahamut... Which in my opinion should never have happened, how does the King of Dragons fall to a bloo-... No... I digress... The characters in the game were nothing special either, and the story seemed like an FFVII rip off... Never bothered to finish it, after the scene with Bahamut and Alexander it just became too horid for me to conceive playing a step further... 10 was a small step up as it's characters were at the very least barable, but again the story was far too focused on these two characters and not enough on what was happening around them, I wanted more politics... To learn more about spira itself, not go hunting for every piece of detail I could find. It seemed everyone/thing was against Sin, no town rivalries wars between nations etc. *Shakes head and sighs* And don't even get me started on 10-2...

Yes I'll admit, to others these games may be perfectly aceptable and fun to play, but honestly to me they had plots as thin and docile as mist.... Which XII improved on by adding oil and gas into the pot instead...

I'm not complaining about the battle systems, or mini games, my problem with the last few final fantasies has been weak characters and uninteresting plots.

I am, for lack of a better word, a final fantasy fanatic. My favorite game of all time is FFVII. I think I have at least played all of the older final fantasy games(X-2 is crap, but I did still play it). But I didn't really enjoy FFXII. I guess because it is an action-rpg, as oppossed to a turn based rpg, which most final fantasy games have been (except Tactics and the like). The story just didn't draw me in like it has in the rest of the games, and it actually dared to pull the "evil twin brother" thing. Yeah, I beat it, and I have to say it was nothing exceptional. it was actually a little below par for this series.

Mind you it had its moments; there were some cool new weapons and classes (I had a lot of fun with the ninja swords), and it gave the game a feel of its own. But it doesn't feel like something that Square Enix would produce. I have come to expect a general "feel" from their games, and this one just...veers off track. I don't really have any major complaints about this game. I think that it was all done fairly well, and Square Enix threw in some interesting new features. All in all, it was a good game. But it was not something that all hardcore final fantasy fans should rush out and buy.

FFXIII FTW!
