i was the first person to purchse oblivion in my town it was eaisly the most anticipated game for me i have downloaded all the extra content available on xbox live and now i am disturbed to learn it is being realeased for the ps3 with all the content i downloaded plus stuf not even available to me at the same price i don't know about you but this appears to be a kick in the nuts to any xbox and oblivion owner i later learned some new content will be available to me in a "knights of the nine" pack which among the new content is mostly made up of what i already downloaded and it appears to me the new content will be available only in this pack so i have to go out and purchase something i already own to get the new content this seems a poor plan for bethesda and i'm pretty pissed off at them now.

That's why I don't jump on this stuff early. :P It's not their fault you already bought it separately; they aren't responsible for how you spend.

Thats what im planning on doing when everything is all settled down.

Ive been hearing that oblivion isn't as good as the 3rd. and for me owning morrowind, I can have no doubt of that. People say it was too short. And considering theres mods on planet elderscrolls to refit textures to make them as good as oblivion's, I wont plan on buying it for a while. Not until I'm done with ED3 and it's hundreds of mods for a long time...which will take a long time...

Well, it's just business. It makes a lot of sense to come out with an updated version of a product for a new system when new content. That makes it more appealing, and it also makes the system it's on more appealing as well, no? I have Oblivion as a PC game, of course, but if I didn't, I'd probably go for the PS3 version. I'm a fan of Bethesda's work, and I'm happy for them that they've been successful. Sure they want to make more money, that's what developers go for. And of course the more they make, the more incentive they have to make more stuff. Money is the driving force for all business, so it really doesn't bother me or surprise me that they are doing this.

theyre disloyalty to early customers is disturbing to me i can only hope they release all the content on live for either free or a small fee and theres no way i would ahve gone for a ps3 if i had this fore-knowledge it's a good console an all but it doesn't have the alure of games that the x-box does like halo 3 for example anyway i'm starting to ramble so i'll say one last thing i e-mailed bethesda to answer these questions and hopefully tomorrow i'll know all the facts i may just be jumping the gun on my accusations i sincerely hope so.

Thats why you get the computer version. It's infinitely superior to the console ones. And also, to get the PS3 version you have to-- you know, buy a PS3. Which is probably more than you spent getting oblivion + the extra content.

Either way, Daggerfall > Morrowind > Oblivion :P

It's not disloyalty, it's business. :P

But see, then they wouldn't make any money. They don't owe you anything. It's kind of one of those, "YOU LOSE! GOOD DAY SIR!" situations. :P

Just thought I'd mention this:

Getting mad at Bethesda for this is like getting mad at a movie company for releasing a boxed set. They release all the DVD's over a year or so, and then they release the boxed set, the same DVD's but with some added features. So all those people who bought all the DVD's as they come out either waste their money, or miss out. It happens all the time, deal with it.

A major company putting money ahead of its customers? No. I do not believe it.

Seriously folks, it's an experiment. If noone buys the micropayment stuff, then it'll be scrapped and it'll go back to no extras except expansions and fan-projects - which can be argued to be superior. If lots of people do, then micropayments will be everywhere. Although it does seem that Bethesda is quite willing to sell off an abstract concept, in this case 'consumer loyalty', for cold, hard cash. Micropayments... bah.

An example of this is the upcoming Gran Turismo 3, which from my limited understanding comes with nothing but pretty menus out of the box unless you splash out for the Premium version, which in this case means "actually comes with cars and tracks". If you did buy the non-Premium version, you now are forced to connect to the PS3 equivelant of live and buy your vehicles and tracks. Apparently all told you're looking at between 500 bucks and a grand American for all the available content. I can't translate that amount into my native monetary system without dry-retching.

Tangent? Rant? You decide.
