This should really have been in the Tech Board. That's what it's there for, after all. ^_~

Viruses and Spy-ware almost always come from malicious people with nothing better to do, thieves, and greedy corporations.

A lot of Viruses are written simply because the writer has nothing better to do, much like a teenager vandalizing a wall, only much more destructive(usually). Some are used to hold your computer hostage, I have seen viruses before that, once installed, disabled functionality but then advertised anti-virus software which you had to spend money on so that you could remove the virus. Some viruses and a lot of spy-ware is used by people who want to steal sensitive information-such as credit card numbers-stored on your computer. They use these as back-doors, or to collect the data and send it to them. Also, a lot of spy-ware is advertising by companies. The spyware watches you and reports what you do so that they can target advertising specifically at you.

Hope that was an adequate explanation to your question. (In fact, I hope that made sense. XD)

Are these viruses and spyware assoicated with hackers? Or are they created by hackers? And is the process to creating a virus difficult? Just curious, considering that if I'm going to have an opionon (sp?) I should know a little about it, thanks.

Except that some hackers may also make viruses as well...

If someone does both, wouldn't that be classified as another type of person altogether?

*Edit*
Or, they could simply be a vrius coder who decided to start hacking, or vice versa.

Ah, than another question, if the Federal Government had more regulation over the Internet, than could they stop these people that creat viruses and spyware?

In most cases yes, if they had more control. As it is, a lot of spyware breaks no laws, and thus they cannot hold the creators, however with almost all viruses and a lot of spyware they would take them down. That is, of course, if they had much, much more control. :P
