Here's my advice, stick to Wacom and Intuos. Other brands generally tend to be second-rate crap that falls apart easily. trust me, a friend of mine Chalcara owned a Trust brand tablet and it gave her a lot of unaccounted-for troubles. (zOMG irony!)

First off, make sure that it doesn't need batteries to run. It's a big pain in the [censored] to constantly supply batteries to the tablet pen. @_@ Then make sure that it really has at least 255 pressure sensitivity levels and that it's durable enough to withstand abuse.

Nope, graphire 3 doesn't need batteries to run. I have a graphire 3 (the smallest one because of size constraints and it was cheaper :P ) and I've been very happy with it for as long as I've had it (less than a year, I got it around early April last year). If you are really serious about drawing, get an Intuos if you don't mind spending that much money. If you are like me and just enjoy drawing as a hobby, I'd say spend less money and get a graphire.

When you are good. Simple as that. There are comics out there that look horrible but are very funny. That being said there are some that look so horrible it pains people to look at them - much less read them.

If you can draw a decent picture with a decent background- even with a few mistakes you can possbily make a decent webcomic but really the trick is to have a great, mostly original, story and or setting. If your doing a gag comic you need TONS of jokes-- and i mean Tons... then you take those and you weed out the inside jokes-- make sure they are apropriate for your target audience, and make sure they are good. Same goes for a story driven comic- you need a strong script-- well writen dialogue, plot hooks, maybe some visual gags-- all of it has to stand out a bit.

In otherwords-- i would say post your art when you get some up-- let people critique it-- work on it for at LEAST 6 more months before doing anything with it majorly-- let us see it again-- if the improvement isnt all that great-- well it might be a while depending on the quality. People move at different speeds. Ive been drawing for over 11 years-- Tom has been drawing for about half that-- he picked up a lot faster than I did- sometimes it takes weeks sometimes months-- often it takes YEARS-- you just have to ask yourself "Do i really enjoy drawing so much that I want to put years of effort into it?" if not-- forget doing it... maybe pick up writing, or webdesign to make sites for webcomic artists-- anything-- just dont go into it if you cant do it.

Sage, that also helps me, because I'm currently making a story driven web comic, action, fantasy, a little bit of humour, with furrys...... (yes I know that sounded like twokinds, but it is set in the near future, where there is an urban war between furrys and humans, because oh a sudden appearence of a portal, which allowed the furrys to become onto this world, (or a random name of a world). I've got more info of it, but i'm scared of people stealing my idea. >.>;; ) yeah it's still in alpha scripting, but I'm progressing with ideas of each strip. The only thing that I shall do since now and then is work on my anime drawing more, get a tablet, get photoshop, and work on my landscape drawing. So yeah it is hard work indeed, so I'm hoping my webcomic would be up and running in 2007ish, so this topic does help me, so thanks.

*flails his arms and yells "ME! OVER HERE!"* XD Yeah, I'd have to go with Sage. Let other peopole critique your art and you'll know how good you REALLY are. =P

wow, thank you so much for the massive replay. Didn't really expect that :P . Guess your right about drawing.

I always liked to draw, but never tried to practice. So, I gave up. But now for about thre or four months I'm practicing. And it is noticable on the pics. Still there are none good enough I'd dare to share with you. They are just scribbles, the others are just front view or maybe a 3/4. I really have to try other positions.
At the moment I'm trying to draw hands, which is kinda hard for me -- but progress; that makes me happy :D

Oh, and before I forget. The community here is really great!!
