Noticed this when checking out Weta looking for Halo movie stuff.

EDIT: Woops. perhaps a false alarm there.

Quote:
Weta has been designing a live-action adaptation of Neon Genesis: Evangelion. The film is on hold but it is Weta’s hope that it will enjoy getting to work on the film production of this amazing story in the near future.

Nothing captures the human emotion as well as an on-screen human. This should be awesome, assuming it's done by a good director. (M. Night Shyamalan, perhaps?)

Not only would I lament a live-action, I believe it would utterly ruin what the series is supposed to be. The Anime was a great stand-alone and was unique in its way, there's no reason to risk destroying an awesome story-line, unique characters, and twisting plots through bad acting, bad directing, or just through the disillusioning of what EVA was supposed to be in a realistic sense.

I do hope it doesn't happen, the thing is fine as it is, don't fix it if it isn't broken.

This always humors me when someone says they hope a movie doesn't come out. It's like they're obliged to see it whether they want to or not.

yeah this info has been circulating for well over a year by now-- lots of jokes like "Maybe they will get the kid from Sith Sense to play Shinji..." And well all the concept art has weird stupid names and names spelled wrong-- like they had Rei spelled Ray, they changed Asuka Langley Sohryu to... Kate Rose... and lots of other stupid stuff-- so while i think the visual effects may be spectacular-- they cant make it as good as the original-- or even close if they start changing names and screwwing around with the original idea-- it also only focuses on one Angel Battle... so it has no begining or end... whoopdedoo!

There's already enough discrimination between people that like anime, and the people that don't, people are mocked for enjoying things other's don't understand. Imagine if this movie made it mainstream and was completely horrible? Now they know it was based off some anime and in-turn those who enjoyed it will now be faced with an ignorant mob of misunderstandings because they "didn't get it". Not too mention all the religious rabble that'd be brought to the front. I don't want to deal with that, video games were under-fire for the longest (and to an extent still are) time, I don't want anime to be brought under the spotlight of conservative scrutiny, which is what's more likely to happen than not.

And you know what?...

This always humors me, when people make assumptions on why people say certain things, it's like they're obliged to think they're witty.

No need to get all angry now, Okonai, it's just a preference. I wasn't pointing anything out that had to do with anime or whatever. If it makes you feel better, I'm sorry.

You implied my reasoning behind objecting to a film of Evangelion could be dismissed just due to the fact that "I don't have to watch it". It both indirectly and directly affects things regardless if I myself saw it, and I just brought that to the fore-front. It annoys me beyond belief when people either second guess me, or try to read something beyond my words than what's there, that's where I get angry.

I think you're taking this way too personally. Calm down dude. It's a movie, not a binding contract between supernations.

No not yet! This is getting interesting! I want to know why a conservative person would judge it. Besides it's not like Yash is here. *Looks around, sees Yash walk by, hide behind Unreal* You can speak with the moderator
! Oh god, don't scorn me!

I'm perfectly calm, I was just explaining my reasonings behind biting back, which I only did at the end of my paragraph logically explaining why I'd not want an Evangelion movie. Not once did I exaggerate anything's importance to the point of "a binding contract between supernations", so I'm not entirely sure why you said that...Effect?

Anywho, it 'is' a movie Unreal, but my view was called under fire by blatant cynicism, I felt it my right to respond, and I did so calmly and logically.

And to Kagekun, well, conservatives in general tend to be religious, if you've never seen the entire Evangelion series (Death and Rebirth as well) I'd not expect you to understand, but if you had, then you'd know the religious implications behind the movie and the um...to put it lightly...differing views from a standard method of the belief being represented would more than likely cause arguments and a debasement of the movie and the public that enjoyed it.

Also, I've got no qualms with Yash, I've broken no rules, and I've stayed on topic in every post.
