I've recently made the misteak of upgrading to Windows Media Player 10. One of the worst mistakes I've ever made regarding my computer.

I'm wondering if there is any way to get the basic, standard and EASY TO USE WMP 9 Skin. All of my controlls are moved arround and are in places that are akward to click when I have a dozen windows open for work.

If not that does somone have a link to download the XP version of WMP 9? The Microsoft site only carries WMP 10 now.

EDIT: Man.... this bites... :( Anyone know how to transferr Playlists to Real Player? Mabey I'll go get Winamp again. Haven't used that in years.

In my opinion, winamp beats the living hell out of WMP. Adding files to the library is much easier, the media library is more organized and the skins and visualizations are outstanding.

Gah! half of the music in my favourite playlist isn't compatible with Winamp.

*head explodes*

I can't write without music, what am I gonna do?

You could download a free converter and use it to convert all your wmv file(I'm assuming thats what they are) to mp3s or something.

Windows Media Player 10

If you have installed Windows Media Player 10, you can roll back to the version of the Player that was on your computer before installing Windows Media Player 10.

To roll back from Windows Media Player 10 to a previous version, do the following:

1. In Control Panel (Category View), click Add or Remove Programs.
2. Click Remove a program, and then do one of the following:

If you are running Windows XP Service Pack 2, select the Show updates check box (at the top of the list), click Windows Media Player 10 (in the Windows Updates section), and then click Change/Remove.
- or -
If you are running Windows XP Service Pack 1 or earlier, click Windows Media Player 10, and then click Change/Remove.

Winamp plays just about anything. Including .wmv. The only thing I've seen that it cant play is .m4p. There's probably a plugin for that somewhere too. And, as far as "easy to use" goes, winamp ranks pretty high up there. Not to mention you get shoutcast radio. Which is full of independent stations.

maybe you haven't got all necessary software. Since OGM is a container, it could contain different video (like Xvid, DivX etc.) and audio codecs (like wav, mp3, ogg, ...).
German Wikipedia says you need :
- DirectShow Filter (separates video, audio, subtitle-streams)
__ http://www.illiminable.com/ogg/
__ or http://www.oggmedia.info/
- Matching audio codec (for the format used in the OGM)

alternatives: VLC or MediaPlayer Classic
