Here's a drawing I did recently.

Image

Photograph of drawing. (The paper was white, but appears brown due to bad lighting)

Medium: Charcoal on paper
Size: 18 x 24 inches
Estimated drawing time: 4 hours (spread over 3 days)

Comments are welcome.

I actually think the brown effect makes it look cooler.

It's OK.

But if you had possibly not done it in charcoal first, it might have looked better. Unless you didn't do it in charcoal first.

X_x Then I'm just rambling.

Like I've said to a lot of others who've seen it already in the chatroom; since it's a photograph of the original, it's highly blurry and obviously the brownish issue...

In an attempt to reduce the blur, I shrank it down by 75%. (Making it a quarter of it's original size) And even then it's still pretty blurry, and most of the detailing is completely gone.

As for the subject matter, it's a pine tree located near the back of Fresno City College, where I take my art class. I still touch it up here and there, and I'm not sure I'll ever call it "done".

But at this point in the process I believe it's coming along rather nicely.

To Al: I started with a quick sketch of the basic shape and growth pattern of the tree in charcoal. (This technique is called "Gesture", for the artisticly uninclined)

It's still within a month, it's hardly necroposting.
