Okay, I'm considering the rules to be the Constitution and I'm going with loose construction, meaning I can do stuff as long as it's not specifically stated not to do. So yeah, this post is born.

As stated in the title, this is going to sound silly.

I want to get into drawing. I see webcomics and I love that type of art, and I enjoy drawing when I'm doing it. Gamers will understand what I feel, it's like a game that you enjoy playing when you are playing it, but you are rarely in the mood to sit down and start playing it, if that makes sense.

That's basically it. I can draw fairly well, as I have had some practice. And I look at webcomics(the comics with the art styles I most enjoy are 'Van Von Hunter' and '.ragnarok'), and I see what I want to draw like. I understand that I must do realism before I can pursue a specific style, and I know that I must practice, and I love drawing, and you get the idea.

But I am having major trouble just sitting down and doing it. Can anyone here give me more motivation?

The only motivation thats worth anything is what you can give yourself- no one here is going to give you money to draw just so you are motivated to-- motivation is something you need to give yourself-- if you want inspiration-- thats totally different.

A quote taken from Nicolaides's book -The natural way to draw,

"The sooner you make your first five thousand mistakes, the sooner you'll be able to correct them."

Then I guess inspiration is the word I'm looking for...

I just want a drive to draw. I was thinking about instead of making this post, just drawing if I want to do it so bad. But I just don't care enough about drawing to continue doing it.

Motivation, inspiration, whatever the word is, you know what I'm getting at.

Motivation and inspiration are linked, but they are different. Inspiration would be what makes you want to draw, i.e. the web-comics you enjoy. Motivation would be what actually makes you do it, and there's no real way we can give it to you. If you can't motivate yourself, your drawing attempts would fail in anycase, or at least be half arsed. Just doodle something every now and again, if you really like drawing, starting that doodle might start you off on something more complex. Maybe you'll realize you feel better drawing, or that you're happier. Who knows, there's tons of reasons to draw. But everyone has their own reason for drawing, whether it's similar or not to someone elses isn't the point.

I could say, I draw because I enjoy it. I like seeing the final product, and realizing on paper what was once a blob in my head. It's a sort of stress relief as well. I also realize it's a form of practice, and all I can do is get better. Other artists inspire me with their talent, but what motivates me isn't their skill, it's the desire to make my drawing ability better. Heck who knows, I could have went off an a rant here, but it's how I see it. In the end it comes back to...find what you want to get out of drawing. Use that to get you start drawing. If you can't find anything...then I'm not sure what to tell you. ^.^;;

/rant off lol

Fox = perfect

I liked the way you said that. You didn't really say anything new or, I have no idea. But after some sleep, I will start drawing again.
