Ok, I get it. So, can the God's and Race's names be out there, and can you create non-sentient and semi-sentient races (aka the creatures who live around the sentient beings who worship the god)?

Yes and Yes. I seriously am considering Remington Starr, God of heros. Or Remy if you want to annoy him.

Perhaps Chuck Norris, God of Badassery, could make an appearance.

No. It's bad enough with the voice in my head telling me to make Yash, god of law.

I'd be happy to come up with anything, but I'm running a bit dry on ideas right now. Let me sleep on it or something.

Right, I figure I'll be handling the rules for gods and such.

For the most part, gods just chill out on the ethereal plane (Afterlife) which is a blank, 3-d void. They can exercise their creative will there and make whatever afterlife they plan on using, a island in the void. The reason why most of them chill out there is because on the mortal plane it's all to easy to piss off some other god, and then you've got a fight on your hands. Said ethereal plane is also the pathway used by teleportation spells, and home to most of the fights that gods do have, because then you don't really have to work about your followers on the mortal plane dying.

Followers who die become similar to outsiders in DnD, and get more powerful with time. What sort of powers and abilities they have is influenced by their choice of god. So, followers of the "Good" gods end up as angelic beings of different flavors, the "Bad" ones get to be demons, the god of heroes makes you into a..well, hero, etc, etc.

Well, now to get down the rules for magic, and to bug other people about the lack of race suggestions. BUG BUG BUG BUG BUG!!!!

Magic is fueled by mystic energy, commonly called mana or ether. Mana is like a vast, intangible ocean that surrounds our world and all others. It's close enough to infinite in supply for running out to not be a problem.

Magic itself works by tearing off pieces off this ocean and changing it's form through sheer force of will. It's a rather difficult process, and hand signs are often used to help the user focus. Magic items work in the same way, and are much more reliable. Because of this, the few wizards who can make magic items usually don't. They need those jobs, after all.

Because of the above rules, most incredibly advanced spells can only be pulled off with a skilled mage and the aid of magic items.

Now, GET TO WORK, WRITER-SLAVES! >=(

and yes, I do have a race idea that a friend gave me.

Fine, you want a race? Here's a race:

Betalla: An insect like race. There are many types, and many levels to their society, which I shall now go into. All varieties are female with the exception of drones, and half the workers.

The queen: There is but one per hive, and she rules over all of the happenings within the hive. A queen lives longer than any other, and most are unsure just how long she will live. She gives birth but a few times in her life, the first being another queen, which is kept in suspension until her mother dies. Few ever get to see the queen.

Birthers: The second kind the queens gives birth to. There is one birther for each type of Betalla. They do not live as long as the queen, so she must replace them many times over her life span. Their abdomens are larger than the rest of their bodies. They lay eggs frequently.

The hunters: This kind of Betalla is one of the few that venture out of the hive, searching for food and various raw materials. They have massive claws at the end of their upper limbs, and are quite swift.

The soldiers: This kind is usually found around the palace, guarding the queen. Only the head guard is trusted to enter her quarters. This kind have extremely thick exoskeletons and large horns protruding from their shoulders. They're usually armed.

The drones: The only all male variety. They are not not actively produced, so the birther for this one usually has it easy. The drones venture into other hives, and depending on the current state of the queen, they are either killed on site, or escorted to the queen's chamber for fertilization. Then killed.

The workers: They do everything from building to producing goods to whatever other jobs are needed. They are the general society. All workers are sterile. There is a 50/50 split of gender for this level.

Basics of hive life: The queen releases a powerful pheromone that slightly addles the brain of any Betalla that smells it, making most hive Betalla semi-sentient. Within the hive, there is seldom conflict. The only variety that is immune to this are soldiers that are completely brain washed by their queen and the queens themselves. Life appears to be normal to any outsiders.
The voice of the queen is her head soldier, which is brain washed beyond being able to think for themselves. The brain washing is preformed with a special pheromone.

Inter-hive relations: The queen sends her head soldier and part of her guard, who are immune to the brain addling pheromone, to meet with the other queen's. In more dire cases, the queens meet each other. Any Betalla that enters a hive other than their own is killed on sight, unless they are soldiers. Drones are the only other possible exception.

Interspecies relations: All visitors to a hive are escorted by a low ranking soldier at all times. The soldiers are ordered to kill them if they show any signs of true aggression.

Exiled Betalla: There are a few laws within the hives that cause banishment, which include and are not limited to: killing, use of magic without a license, attempting to enter the palace without an invite from the queen, and attacking a soldier and surviving. And exiled Betalla is a fully sentient being, no longer subjected to the brain addling pheromone. Needless to say, these are rare, and most of the time, they are smart, skilled, and powerful, seeing as they resisted enough to cross the queen in the first place. Soldiers are almost never exiled, and there has only ever been one case in the history of the species.

Well, I see no problems. Anyone else have something to offer?

After a bit more races show up I could get to work on the history.

Ok, I'll come up with a race.

The Thal

Appeance: With a rather frail looking build Thals are often underestimated in thier pysical strength. This is however a misconception as their muscle structure varies greatly from races of a simular stature.

Their skin is pale bule, and they have yellow eyes. Though in a few minor cases there have been Thal born with green eyes. These individuals are often held in high regaurd by the people and are instantly sent to be raised in the Thal churches.

That have very long thin tails that have been compared to whips. They never wear footwear instead prefer to feel the ground beneath their feet. As a race they are rather fond of long flowing robes with many layers

History:

The Thal we once a race of great power and influence, respected by the other races for their technological advances and deep settled spiritual believes. Rather then worship any god in particular they believe each god and race has a purpose in the world.

They were at the forefront of the great war against Thascal, intent on keeping the balance in the world. They took very heavy casualties and were betrayed by many of the races they had once shared alliances with.

The result of the war crippled the fragile population of the Thal, and their trust in other races was shattered. Becoming a reclusive race the Thal hid away from the rest of the world shutting their borders down and killing anyone stupid enough to enter their lands.

It has been 100 years since any direct contact has been made between the Thal and the other races, but their presence is still felt, even if the other races don't realise. There are many agents of the Thal within other territories keeping an eye of their progress. It has been thought that these agents will act in the name of keeping the balance with assinations and terrisom. Though, there is never any proof of the Thal's involvement.

Many believe that the Thal have died out completly and the Thal are happy to let the other races beleive this. It makes their job a lot easier. Though, this rumour is not without some truth. It is becoming increasingly clear to the Thal leaders that their race may be on the brink of dying out. More and more Thal are being born infertile, only the rare few born with green eyes are able to reproduce, making them even more important to the Thal.

***

There you go for now. Probaly come back and scribble some info about how their culture works once I give it some thought

This looks very intresting. I'll contribute.

Basilisks

Appearance: Young Basilisks are easy to compare with overgrown lizards with six legs. They have big sharp teeth and two huge fangs. A line of spikes run down their spine.
As they mature they sprout two horns on their head, one in the area above the fangs and one above the eyes, two fans grow out on their neck, and their muscularity increases dramaticly.

History:
The Basilisks were among the first creatures to be created together with the new world. They were born through a co-operation between the god of water and the god of earth.
Ever since, Basilisks have been living their lives like most of the other creatures of the world. Minding their own decisions, just being.

Other information:
Basilisks are despite what most people beleive intelligent creatures. Not on the level of most humanoids, but they are sentient beings with free will and are capable of thoughts and emotions. They do not create families, but they often live in packs and are able to communicate with eachother through a special language consisiting mostly of hissings and growls.

A mature Basilisk's jaws are strong enough to bite through practicly aything, combined with their sharp and tough teeth.
Basilisks are able to inject a very strong though not lethal poison into their victims through their fangs. This poison forces all of the victim's muscles to cramp, locking it in a painfull paralyze. This is very usefull when a Basilisk faces a big foe.

Basilisks are normally very slow creatures. They move slowly, they eat slowly, they even breathe slowly, and the majority of the day they spend lurking in the lake, cave pool or swamp where they live. But when hunting, or when threathened they will display an incredible speed and agility.
Basilisks can actually live pretty much anywhere, as long as there is an acess to water, and the place is damp and close to the earth.

Despite the way they look Basilisks are not related to lizards even by far. They are cousins of an ancient race, wich they hate over everything else.

There has been an extremely few examples of Basilisks wich have somehow mastered magic. These few examples hav all gained the same special treat: Their eyes glow even in the most utter darkness. Such Basilisks have been known to gather hundreds of other Basilisks around them, and even tried to take over countries. Though they have never been sucessfull, their attacks have allways been sudden and devastating.

The Basilisks know perfectly well that they were created by the god of water and the god of earth, but do not worship either of them. They do sacrifice things they kill but do not need to them every now and then however.

Maybe I'll come up with a god or two or another race sometime later.

Race's Name: Ciil'rin {Sēl-rĕn}
Race's Type (Animal, humanoid, other): Humanoid
Race's Diet (Carnivore, Herbivore, Omnivore): Omnivore
Race's Intelligence (Minimal, Mild, Moderate, High): Moderate-High (with exceptions of course)
Race's Appearance: All are born with deep red fur. As they live, their fur lightens (first it changes to brown however, so deep red, brown, lighter shades of brown, gray, silver-white, white.) the have thick, short snouts, clawed hands, arched feet (where the heel would be on a human is about a foot off the ground, no pun meant. >.<) and a thin (can't say cat-like, since it ends in a point instead of a rounded end) tail of a solid color (same as the color of the rest of their fur) All have either golden or silver eyes, although silver is the more rare of the two.
Race's History: The Ciil'rin are a segregated race, not because of past events, but because of their location. They live in Lush forests (I guess you could call them rainforests) and the only way to navigate them would be to follow a river that just about cuts it in half. While being the fastest way to get there, it's also the most dangerous with the poisonous beasts, seemingly harmless plants, and even some large serpents (although they're friendly if you know how to act with them.) Some of the more adventurous ones of the race are the ones assigned to take goods (rare wood (at least rare to other races. ^_^), food made from native animals, etc.) down-river to trade with other races.
Race's Superstitions: The Ciil'rin believe that trauma and other events related to extreme fear decreases their life-spans (which is understandable since it can make their coats lighten slightly faster). They also believe that anyone who lives for two years or more with white fur (white fur develops at around age 34) is blessed.
Race's Qualities: Their life span is (on average) about 30-35 years, and there is very little one of the species can do to hide their age, since most can tell by the color of their fur.

Race's Name: Feinruot {fān-root} (called Palewood by others because of the awkward spelling)
Races Type (Animal, humanoid, other): other (plant)
Race's Intelligence (Minimal, Mild, Moderate, High): Minimal
Race's Appearance: Willow-like in appearance (draping vines of leaves), it has very light brown wood that is very valuable. It also has splendid fruits, with a beautiful look and smell, but the flesh is deadly to preserve the seeds so they can make new trees. It is a hardwood tree and requires a lot of patience since it can take a while to fell a single tree.
Race's Qualities: The trees live for a long time, sometimes as much as four hundred years.

Ok, Tell me if these sound good, cause I'm still thinking up a few others (Including the god) In total, I'm thinking up about 4 creatures and 1 god. >.< I need a buncha time to think them up , even though I have an idea for them, I need to figure out some names. (I googled the names until I got no results, so I think they might be original.)
