I remember hearing about this several months ago. I saw a little bit of the taping of the American version a few days ago. It's not something that is meant to be a standalone show in my opinion. I really doubt it will take off in America, but it will be fun to watch while it lasts, or at least in the beginning.

I saw my first episode of Hole in the Wall a few days ago.

It was incredibly lame. They really didn't need to have all the flashy lights, audience, or lame announcer, but it was still hilarious watching the people fail and get slammed into the water. XD
