I wanted to know everyones views on it, what you think is better, pros and cons on each.

I'm an old school rpg gamer. So I'm always going to love the classics and I know squaresoft has more under its belt than square enix but to me with the games that it has taken, redone, and/or continued I find my self thoroughly disappointed and disheartened by the games it has turned out so far. True, I'm used to the classics like the first few final fantasy games and secret of mana and today you just can't find those kinds of games anymore. Times have changed and so has the players/audience of these games and I look to my 13 yr old cousin who probably wouldn't know a good rpg if it slapped him in the face.
I don't know, maybe everything else has changed but me -_-

I've always liked Enix more than Square. That's why I'm glad Square merged into Enix and not the other way around. Dragon Quest still gives me the classic RPG experience seven sequels later (I'm so excited about part 9!).

The guys over at the Slime Knights forum before it was closed called the merger Squeenix.

Soft more than Enix, but that may be because I feel the newer games don't bring that much to the market and SE is comfortable attempting to keep the Status Quo for the most part now days. Anyone else remember Brave Fencer Musashi? Vagrant Story?

I loved Vagrant Story, there was talk of a sequel but obviously there wasn't one. But maybe they'll make a second. The guy who did the storyline for Vagrant Story did Final Fantasy XII of which I did like but it wasn't my favorit final fantasy. As for recent developments I've heard good things about Crisis Core, my brother is currently playing it and has beaten it. He told me it was classic FFVII so he was happy because recently he has been disappointed by Square Enix too. But we have hope ^^.

Random thought, does anyone remember an old super nintendo game called "Legend of Gaia" not to be confused with "Legend of Legaia" for original play station.

I've always have been (and most likely always will be) a dedicated Final Fantasy fan, so personally I prefer Squaresoft. I do enjoy the Dragon Warrior/Quest series but Final Fantasy will always hold a special place in my heart because FFVII was my first RPG. Ahhh, the memories...

Here as well. It was a great game and one that I still play from time to time. I'm debating on whether or not to turn this into an "Games that were your all time favorites and classics in your opinion" post since it seems to be going that route, I could name hundreds. Number one being Secret of Mana :)
