is there any boss that compares to this 18 hour fight and they had to retreat due to physical illness?

I'm pretty sure nothing is going to beat that.

MGS 3 and 4. Both required me to use an item I never knew I had. So in three the death screen kept popping up and in four the boss kept regenerating back to full health every time I "killed" him I ran out of bullets before I figured out what to do.

I'm going for length rather than hardness with this one:

I played DBZ: legacy of Goku 2 on the GBA when I was younger. I had my SP plugged into the wall with the game on, and unpaused on the last boss fight against cell. In that fight, there's a large rock you can hide behind, and Cell will just walk into it, and keep walking despite the fact that he can't reach you due to the rock. I happened to be going on vacation that day, and several days later I returned to find it still on, unpaused, in the middle of the fight. So, after I quickly kicked Cell's [censored], the boss fight had lasted for more than 48 hours.

Last boss of the original Ys.

It's inevitable that you get hit by all those... bomb things that come out of nowhere, and then again they split into even more bombs once they hit you or the floor. You're restricted to a really tiny area, and every time you hit the boss, the floor right beneath you gets destroyed; which means if you randomly hit the boss, you will run out of space to move and shortly die. Also, you don't have any ranged weapons, so..

Journey to alpha centauri. It's played in real time, with real distances.

That means 30,000+ years.

You pilot a ship to the nearest star to our solar system. In real time. This is space, and if you didn't notice, space is Really, Really God-awfullly big.

Oh, yeah. In MGS 4, it took me about fifteen minutes to figure out what to do there. I hoped at first that the railgun would work, but it didn't. The fact that the next part was split-screen ruined it for me, since I couldn't actually watch what was going on. *is sad*

Yeah, yeah, but that's not my point.

Dang. MGS is always too complicated. Most of the bosses start requiring you to know their every moves, which means it's really hard to win the first time or so. :x

*looks at thread title again*

Oh...oh. nevermind then.

Resident evil four was pretty extreme with saddler. One hundred TMP rounds to the face, several shotgun shells to the weakpoint, grenades/bullets to stun and then more bullets to injure, finally topped off with a hit from a weapon only in this fight to the weak point FOR MASSIVE DAMAGE. Not the worst example, but still deserves a mention.

Well it's a secret, so nobody knew about it. ∑:∂≤
I've never played Star Ocean 2, so I wouldn't know anyways

not the toughest boss i've faced but the most damn annoying to reach has been, by far "courtnay gears" in ratchet and clank: UYA. i must have spent at least 2 weeks trying and failing to reach even the fighting platform to try to kill her. but the toughest boss has been DR nefarious[to my memory i have not beat him. cause i have not reached him. but i have fought him]
can you tell i dont have many games in my collection?

exile 3 ruined world. when you fought a boss it wasn't just a boss it was a boss and his thousand minions and whatever the hell they could summon the first time i played the game we didn't know how to improve our stats... it was impossible. the last level you pretty much are just walking on fire the whole time and there are crazy super mages EVERYWHERE!
