With a quick search I found no matching threads, so I guess it's safe to post this one :? If not, mods can delete this right now.

The Olympics of the now have begun with all the nice opening ceremonies (someone add the wallrunning man to FTW thread :D) and the flame has been lit!

I don't watch sports myself and I doubt that many of you actually do either, but it's still a rather interesting event. China takes much pride on having successful Olympics for the whole world to enjoy.

So, to the point. What do you guys think of the Olympics this year, or just in general? Will Paavo Nurmi make a surprise visit from beyond the grave? Will Tibet demonstrators make an appearance during the games?

Discuss, if you may :3

Meh. I've never been interested in sports in general so the Olympics isn't much different.

I don't like the Olympics, for multiple reasons. For one, it's just an excuse to spend exorbidant amounts of money on something that the people therein do anyway, for slightly less exorbidant amounts of money. For another, it's a giant effing target, for pete's sake. C'mon, I'm surprised there aren't attacks on the Olympics every year.

The time zone in Beijing makes it difficult to actually catch anything without staying up all night...
Totally missed the opening ceremonies...

You know what would make the Olympics better? If they went back to hand-to-hand combat and feats of strength and speed that usually end in death.

I agree.
To do this, I say they should make Mortal Kombat an Olympic event.

Nude beach volleyball.

I would look forward to that.

Who said anything about a videogame?
You misunderstand. I don't mean playing the video game Mortal Kombat as an Olympic event. I don't mean watching the movie either.
