Heavy Rain is a game that is being developed by Quantic Dream, the studio responsible for the fantastic adventure game Indigo Prophecy (called "Fahrenheit" in the rest of the world).

Not much is known about the game's plot or gameplay at present, other than that it will be a dark, noir storyline. What makes it so notable, however, is the attempt by Quantic Dream to create the most realistic digital actors possible, using complete body and facial motion capture.

Their first trailer, The Casting, was a technical demo created by the studio in about six weeks for internal purposes, and subsequently shown at E3 2006 at Sony's request. Since then, not much had been seen, at least until recently. This last year, they released another short clip showing some of the work they were doing involving the facial motion capture. The trailer, called The Face, is pretty damn good looking, if you ask me.

But what prompted me to post this were two new screens that just surfaced.

Screen 1
Screen 2

I dunno about you guys, but I'm a graphics whore, so I'm really excited by these screens. While many games have detailed graphics, not many have realistic graphics, things that strive to look extremely true-to-life. So, seeing these, I'm pretty blown away. I'm excited, and prolly the only here who is, but I thought, eh, I'll make this post anyways. Anyone else here looking forward to this game?

I have no idea how this looks to me XD

I have no idea what the game is like other than those screens, even by reading the Wiki, but the name makes me interesting and if it is anything like it, it will be crazy awesome. Personally, I don't care about graphics, so it makes me hard to be excited about it yet, but if this backs up pretty with awesome, it could be really cool. Just have to wait, I guess.

So it's an adventure game that's all about great storyline and graphics? Like, without that many actions in it?

Depends what you mean by "actions." If you mean, will it be like other adventure games that are more pixel-hunting and obscure-puzzle solving, then no. It's a cinematic adventure game more focused around making moral choices and interacting with people. But I doubt that means there won't be much gameplay. Check out their last title to get an idea of what Heavy Rain will probably be most like.

Dear lord, thats beautiful. If the gameplay is the same as Indigo Prophecy, I'll be fine, just as long as it doesn't get as bat-[censor] insane as the end of Indigo.

It shouldn't; this one has no supernatural twists, the director says. It's just supposed to be a very dark noir, so we'll see.

They just released a gameplay trailer for it: Full-Screen Trailer

Looks good, like it'll keep the same kind of gameplay that they had in Indigo Prophecy, but evolved. Glad to see it finally has a release year, too.

Ah, that looks like it will be great, so long as the main character and the villain don't start flying and throwing super heavy things and going into bullet time. I'm really excited about this.

Is this to be PC or console? It looks interesting, but I want a story before I buy, :)

The beginning of the trailer says PS3/sony entertainment, but hopefully its not exclusive. If it is, I'll be a little sad, but I can just get it as a gift for one my friends that has one.
