Yep, ladies and gentlemen, the internet's favorite senile old fool has been indicted.
Quote:
WASHINGTON (AP) — Sen. Ted Stevens, the nation's longest-serving Republican senator and a major figure in Alaska politics since before statehood, was indicted Tuesday on seven felony counts of concealing more than a quarter of a million dollars in house renovations and gifts from a powerful oil contractor that lobbied him for government aid.

A dishonest Republican? Hardly news worthy.

Ohh shame on me (perhaps dishonest politician is more like it). Unfortunately for us, he's rich and a politician. You know this is America - guilty until proven rich or famous. So he'll get a slap on the wrist at worst.

I just found it noteworthy because this is the "series of tubes" guy. Which I still find hilarious, apparently.

He also is accused of accepting from VECO a Viking gas grill, furniture and tools, and of failing to report swapping an old Ford for a new Land Rover to be driven by one of his children.

That's the part I find hilarious.

It is funny. My crack wasn't intended to imply this wasn't interesting, I just dislike most politicians is all.

I know I'm going to get a virtual [censored]-kicking for this, but maybe this whole thing is karma for being a republican senator.

Democrats are just as bad. Politicians in general suck.

Again, we elect them. Or elect the people who appoint them. Should say something about us.

You think we elect them- but if we really did - Obama and McCain wouldnt be our choices for president this year if that were true- granted - we could write in... But even if everyone decided to write in someone's name - if you misspell a name or put a middle initial or if there are any changes- it counts as one for whichever spelling- instantly cutting possible votes in half... and really if someone did win with a write in- they would ignore it.

We elect these people because they stand up to BE elected- and they have the money to point themselves out and to rise through the ranks of Politics.

In the end- all America can do is vote for the lesser of 2 evils hoping in 4 years someone will be worth voting for...

And with that shared mentality across a nation, we doom ourselves into this system continually.

I'm happy to see that you have this opinion. =^.^=

However, I highly doubt that we'll even be a country in 4 years... Kel's right, we don't have the guts, or we don't care enough, to stand up for our rights.

It's not about guts, the issue simply is, everyone believes that voting for a person not from 1 of the parties was the equivalent to throwing away their vote. And because everyone understands that, it is true. If all the people who didn't want one of the two to get in, and instead voted for a secondary candidate, they might have a chance.

Wow, Sage, why do you have to go and insult Obama like that?

I would gladly have voted for Ron Paul. I'm libertarian as hell, though, so that's just me.

@ Drisk: He insulted the other two, as well.
